what roll are you guys on? Canada won gold last year, won the last 2 best on bests and 3 if you include the world cup. What did you guys do with your young stars last year in the juniors? you guys flamed out without even a medal.

Canada is what you hope to be, the problem is some of you are acting as if you already are without the results to back any of this big talk up.

Some of you folks need to learn some respect, you havent proven anything yet.

Walk the walk before talking the talk, humility is your best friend, don't forget that.
Rolling he means the last few drafts.

I am a big fan of Heinola. Great skater, good hockey sense and has been very good offensively (and defensively!) in Liiga. I really want to see him make the team. I didn't see him even make the team in some of these predictions.. You'll be surprised. 1st or 2nd pairing I think.

Thats fine, Canadas drafts aren't that bad though, we have the talent and winning mentality to match up with you very well, so do a few other countries.

You've got good players, we know that.

Nothing will be given to you..........you and yours best understand that.

It all has to come together , thats far from a certainty, best to lay low until the anointed day comes.

Don't waste your time taking non serious posters seriously. Otherwise, you end up coming across as an overzealous, "nationalistic" Canadian fan. Everybody knows how dominant Canada is, no need to remind anybody. It's a moot point.

Well then ......lets keep it quiet then right?

I don't think we need to take any potshots between us at this point.
Ye. Just saying. You are contradicting yourself. You are emphasizing how much better Canada is in a Finnish U20 thread, but reminding others to be humble. Judging on your posts, you are much smarter than that. Not trying to be polemic, but it's true.

I never said Canada at this date is better then anyone,I did say we have backed up what we claimed.

You haven't....................remember that.

Come on don't be so negative.
I saw Sweden's U20 WJC training camp roster and it didn't look so bad as you thought.
Those defencemans what Sweden is getting are something what Finland can't match.

Sweden will have best defence in the tournament and even if / when goalies aren't so good that defence will compensate Swedish goaltending. Offence is OK for Sweden so if you guys won't be at least in semifinals i'm more than surprised.

And what comes to Finland i don't have medal expectations
If we can win our U20 WJC quarterfinal i'm happy for that.
Everything after that ( winning U20 WJC quarterfinal) is a plus.
I dont expect Sweden winning the quarterfinal. But Finland are always a team who can get a medal. As a Swede i always want to beat Finland. But i never expect it and in WJC i alwasy expect Sweden to loose. Dont know why we suck in juniors and play better in WC.

Sweden almost has to much good D you only need a few on a team. What we need is more Laine or a Rantanen, Kappo , Kotkaniemi , Aho type of players. Crazy how much talent are coming from Finland at the moment. When it comes to forwards Sweden is the little brother.

He got an assist in yesterdays game against Kookoo as well. In the last training tournament in Czech (around 10 november) Heinola played first pair with Laaksonen, maybe that spot was meant to Vaakanainen but i can se Heinola take that spot now when Vaakanainen is not likely to come.

And it is possible that he could play with the Bruins if he gets healthy. They have some injury trouble on their defence.
Hopefully some of their defensmen comes back from injury so Vaakanainen can play with us if he returns. What are your thougts about Honka vs Thomson? Honka has been cold this season so far, well at least if you look at the offensive production. I think Thomson also brings a little bit else then just offensive, He can play pysichal and is a little bit bigger then Honka. I think that this D core has plenty of offensive even whiteout Honka. The others beside Laaksonen and Thomson are all comfortable in the offensive zone.

I don't think Honka is a lock to play. Like you said, Thomson is a good option and Laaksonen too. We don't really need Honka, especially if his defensive and offensive struggle continues. Honka may be better offensively when he is at his best, but yeah he can't bring much more. If I was picking the team, Honka probably makes it, but on the third pair.

Laaksonen-Thomson
Heinola-Kokkonen
Honka-Latvala
Utunen

or something. Anttalainen might make the team just because he is older..

Nordgren-Kotkaniemi-Kakko
Vesalainen-Kupari-Tolvanen
Heponiemi-Lundell-Engberg
Virtanen-Talvitie-Ylönen
Nyman

Kokkonen-Laaksonen
Heinola-Honka
Thomson-Utunen
Latvala

Luukkonen
Lehtinen
Lindberg

;)

I still think there is a chance to get Kotkaniemi.

GDI why isn't a single one out of Vaakanainen, Jokiharju, Välimäki or Heiskanen availible to improve the D. I'm happy for their success but wish atleast one could've helped the national team

The defense as of now is too weak and too young to compete for gold.

There's still a long ways until the deadline for the NHL teams to lend players, plus Urho may not even be fully recovered in time.

If he gets healthy in time WJC would be a great tourney for him.

Bostons defense has been getting healthier and he's like 5th on the LD rankings with everyone healthy.

Välimäki is too old. Late '98.
