WC: Team CZE - 2019

If you asked me, before NHL playoffs, to rank Faksa, Chytil and Simon I'd probably go

1. Faksa
2. Chytil
3. Simon

We'll see if Simon keeps his 1C job. Great opportunity for him. I know Faksa isn't a scorer but he's also 6'2 and 220 lbs and plays more minutes than the other 2. He also outscored both of them. Chytil is a future star. Simon has done amazing to stay in NHL.

Speaking of great opportunites... I figure Francouz is now the 1 goalie. Whoever starts against Sweden has the chance to steal that spot from him. Imagine if our 1B beats Sweden?

It means Kovar (goalie) is going back home, when Francouz will come. Kovar won't be 3rd goalie anymore.

So happy for Musil. He might finally get a WC game in!

7 and a half out of 11 forwards are NHL... not bad. I'm couting Kubalik as the 'half' since he's in the NHL next season according to Blackhawks GM Bowman.

Feel bad for Kovar. Good soldier. I think 'repre' makes him nervous.

Everyone here thinks Bartosak is very good. I guess we'll see as he's playing an all NHL Swedish team.
 
Faksa is a fantastic addition to this team, however they need to use him properly. Jandac made a mistake last year and used him as a 1C, which he's NOT. He's a perfect shutdown/defensive center and should be used that way. I believe Říha will figure it out though, he might not be a "progressive" kind of coach but he's got great hockey sense, which is something Jandac lacks IMO. I love how he runs the bench, so much emotion and involment, that's exactly what we've needed - perfect for a short tournament.

Miloš Říha also said they will wait for players still playing in NHL (Hertl, Krejčí, Pastrňák), but only for 3 games.

We don't play him against big 5 teams. That way he has more wins and better stats than the other goalie. Eg. Rittich last year got the hard starts... Then they played Francouz in quarters.

I'd say optimal for our roster. Simon and chytil are in for a hell of a test. Vrana will move up eventually.

I'm wondering if one of our RD can go to left side. Rutta, Hronek and gudas should all be over 20 minutes.
 
Huge win for the Czechs. Faksa will be a big addition to this team as well ahead of the Russia match.

If they can pull off the upset against Russia, the Czechs will win the group!
 
So who plays tomorrow? Hrubec or Bartosak? The Francouz arrival is not ideal... in a perfect world he's already playing tomorrow and then we pick between him and Bartosak.. we might play 3 goalies in round robin. Which also isn't ideal.
 
If you watch the Vrana goal... it is truly an awesome piece of work from Hronek...

Sweden comes in on a 2 on 2.. he poke checks puck away from Kempe.. gets puck and sends an amazing pass to Vrana.

I've been missing that in Czech hockey defenders.

Seems like Bartosak’s job to lose after that performance, no? Francouz should sit out the Russia game as well, as he will likely still be jet lagged.

Nobody knows yet but why not right? There's a day off after Norway for Czechs so it shouldn't be that big deal.
I think he's gonna be in the net for the first four games which means Sweden, Norway, Russia and Latvia that's my guess.
