i think he means that soccer is popular sport in norway
Have you read any of this thread, like at all, before posting? So a bunch of second rate Canadians? Well they should have good chemistry within the team then.

This isn't a normal scenario since it's basically all of Kunlun Red Star suiting up for the Olympics.
I might be naive but I really think the IIHF would've pulled the trigger already if there were any indications of not receiving clearance/passports. On the other hand, this might as well be very indication and they wish to replace them in a fair wayAnother question is whether all of them have yet received clearance or even passports in time for these October exhibitions. Although technically the games may not be an IIHF event so that may not matter too much.
China should not Be able to use foreign Kunlun players. Real Chinese players or replace them with Norway or Belarus/FranceI might be naive but I really think the IIHF would've pulled the trigger already if there were any indications of not receiving clearance/passports. Great input, thanks.Nah too much text. Anyway China have never been and will never be a hockey nation. They are good at ping pong though.
Extremely disappointing that China didn't field their ethnic Chinese team and instead caved to IIHF pressure and is using import players. It would have been hilarious for them to get curbed stomped by Canada, Germany and the US.
Not the right call with this timing IMO. It's four months away at this point, they should just run with it - maybe the right call 2 or 3 years ago when they had first announced it. Bend the passport rules if they have to. KRS+reinforcements is unlikely to get beaten 15-0.
No offense to Norway but that isn't going to help the international game grow, this isn't an up and coming hockey nation at all and I doubt Olympic participation where they're likely 4 games and out is going to move the needle. China's 1.4 billion people, Norway is 5.3 million. A "Chinese" team getting drubbed converting 500k viewers into fans would be a success. That's still only 0.05% or like 1 of 2000 of the population..
And before people accuse me of picking on Norway, A. they're essentially getting gifted a spot without qualifying and B. Can't say the same for Latvians, Slovakia, Swiss or Germans who have been producing some pretty decent draft classes of late. I'd rather see Belarus.
I have two issues with your assessment of the situation... 1) Denmark is in the Olympics despite being 12th in IIHF world rankings while Norway is 11th, so Norway technically has a right to be there as one of the top 12 hockey countries in the world whereas China was gifted a spot as the host.
2) Hockey has not grown and will not be growing in China for the long term future. Despite a population of 1.4 BILLION people, the government cannot find 23 people good enough at the game of hockey to not loose every game by double didgets. The 'Chinese' team has maybe 4-5 legitimately Chinese players while the rest are white Canadians and Americans brought in as ringers, that doesn't seem to really jive with the Olympic spirit to me.
Nobody in China is going to be glued to their TVs watching Canada and the USA demolish the Chinese team 50-0 (which could be a legitimate outcome with a dream team of Crosby, McDavid, MacKinnon etc all playing together)
So that said, I fully support kicking China out and getting a real hockey nation in there.

Yea that’s it. They sure struggled at the summer games.
Yeah, yeah they are good at bunch of sports i dont give a damn about, but good for them. Ping pong (table tennis) can be a bit fun to watch (and play) sometimes, mind, thats why I think of it when comes to chineese athletics.
Should we be expecting China to put out their first 3 players? They're the only country who hasn't yet, but I could understand holding back if there's truth to the rumors of the IIHF considering putting Norway in instead
Name them.About 60 % of their players haven´t even been naturalized yet.![]()

You can go to the KHL website to verify the citizenship. Here. In the Russian version of the site they write "Country" but in the Russian version they write "citizenship" (Гражданство)I'm not sure we've got much confirmation of which players have or haven't at all.
From what I've read, most of the projected players have been in China playing for long enough to qualify per IIHF rules, but I have no idea what the process is for Chinese citizenship.

I do not understand why people do not verify the information before writing on forum.

I think IIHF has made it clear they'd be willing to relax some rules for China.I also use eliteprospects and most of the players have their citizenship listed as canadian. Dont know what´s the correct source. Accordng to KHL-site most of them have it.
Chelios, Sproul, Smith and Lazushin are still question marks. And how it goes with Cliff Pu who just joined?
Where are all the people who were decrying the u23 team in the last NHL tournament and their desire to see true organic national teams?
I don't recall anybody saying anything about it being organic; only that international tournaments should be comprised of national teams and not gimmicky u23 or multi-national NHL-only players.
I have no idea what the process is for Chinese citizenship.
