Why are You naming Burns, Getzlaf, Carter, Doughty etc to Your line-ups? All of San Jose, Anaheim, Los Angeles will make Play-offs and these players won't play at WC. The only superstars that won't be in PO are Seguin, Benn and McDavid. Benn didn't play in IIHF WC since 2012 and doesn't have any medal, I think he'll go. Seguin has gold from 2015, but I think he'll go along with Benn and McDavid said to his teammate that he will go.
I think Sharks eliminated after 1 round SC

It's highly likely that 2 of these 3 will be out of the POs before the team even departs for Europe. And generally every year 3-5 players are named to the team after completion of the 1st. rd.

The propaganda effort that is the "triple gold club" never ceases to amaze me. I highly doubt that players will be motivated to participate by the IIHF invented award for outstanding achievement in the field of excellence.

The triple gold club matters to players who care about their international reputation. For example, it was the main motivation for Corey Perry when went and won the worlds in 2016. After winning, him joining the triple gold club was the only thing the media in North America was talking about. Also, it factors into being inducted into the IIHF hall of fame. Players know about it and care about it.

ya, I don't believe that it has been confirmed at all, that was Klefbom revealing locker-room talk to a Swedish reporter.

Do McDavid and RNH want or are open to playing/accepting an invite, I would say yes.

decent enough roster. after the L.A. pair, the D-group is iffy...I'd be a disappointed if that's the group we end up sending.

Also, not sure why you'd put Horvat at 4th. line LW over Schwartz. I mean if both are available (which they currently are) Schwartz is the better option here. and not by a little bit, but by a lot.

True, Klefbom might just be blowing smoke, but maybe he's not. I think the Calgary d-pairing has been solid, as well as Hamonic.
I chose Horvat because of he's promoted as a two-way guy, but that might be overblown (according to Canucks boards). Schwartz could replace him, but I think STL will make the playoffs (they've been tending up).

There is no evidence that it was the main motivation for Perry, as he mainly mentioned that he liked representing Canada and didn't want to refuse too often because eventually the opportunity stops coming, and it was certainly not the only thing that the media in North America talked about. This is revision at best, a lie at worst. I also highly doubt that any North American players care very much (at all) about the IIHF hall of fame.

The "triple gold club" an incredibly contrived and redundant "achievement" that is nothing more than a transparent attempt by the IIHF to slightly raise the profile of its primary tournament by attaching it to more famous achievements.

Oh cmon now Jack, who wouldn't want an outstanding achievement in the field of excellence on their resume as a hockey player?

I'm not opposed to Horvat being on the team, just not at that role and that particular position, especially when a player like Schwartz could be available. I consider SLB will make a 1st. rd. exit, therefore I consider their players to be in the mix for roster spots.

true they've been playing better as of late, but they play either Vegas, Smashville or Winnipeg (if they catch Minnesota) My guess is they'll be cleaning out their lockers in 5 or 6 games (depending on the opponent.)

Colorado dropped out of the Top 8, I'm going crazy thinking about what a McDavid Mackinnon 1-2 punch down the middle looks like. Throw Barzal into the mix...

but I don't want to set myself up for disappointment, Nate may just want to take the full summer off. He's put the time in at this tournament.

re: Carolina Hurricanes head coach

According to John Shannon, he is atop the list to coach Team Canada’s World Championship entry. Peters won gold with that group in 2016. Vancouver’s Travis Green is expected be part of Canada’s coaching staff, too.

solid move he wants another crack at it.

Green is also a good choice.

Very nice, as I've said a few times I would like to have Peters back. I really liked the job he did in 2016. I'm not surprised that Hockey Canada is interested as they pursued him last year but he refused because his daughter was graduating from high school or something.

I'm gad to not have Gallagher. I would like to see Drouin invited, he has a lot more to offer than he has shown in Montreal this year.
