WC: Team Canada Roster Helsinki-Tampere 2022

I like the idea of sending a very young Canadian team.

Not realistic, but it would be fun to watch.

Lots of centers but im sure some of them could handle playing at wing.

Yeah, I don't like the looks of that team. too many AHL players and RFAs as well. I will update my roster tomorrow morning.
 
I'm going roll the dice (pun intended) on an all Vegas baby-Vegas line answering the call this year...and back by popular demand to play his 3rd. WHC tournament in a row (still nowhere close to the Team Canada record) Adam Henrique. Oh Captain - My Captain. It's not likely that this is the team we get, but would be an interesting mix of a few promising young 1st. timers with established vets.
And I do expect/hope that the '02 and '03 born players show up in August for the make up tournament.

They were saying on TSN insider trading that Canada could get some good players this year because the World Cup of Hockey is in 2024 and this is seen as a try out for that team.

Assuming the usual declines on defence, I'd throw Sanheim in the mix for a spot. Good size and mobility, still fairly young, having a good season on a terrible team. I hope that he isn't having flashbacks to how badly he was used by that idiot Dave Lowry at the WJC.

once we start getting the "my best friend is getting married in August so I can't play your May tournament" excuses, Sanheim will be getting some roster love. He's long since recovered from any Dave Lowry damage.
 
From the east teams that are eliminated, I think the players that we really really want are:

-Carey Price: obviously, even if he’s just using it to get more games and reps I think we all want this.
-Barzal, Severson, Batherson, Sanheim, Pelech, Skinner, Suzuki.


From the West:

-Burns, Toews, Dach, Chyrchrun.

I'd be quite happy to take all of those east names. Hart as well. Barzal and Suzuki as the top two centres would be great at this level to get some reps in. Hoping to see Mercer as well and perhaps Cozens.

I'd be pretty shocked if J. Toews showed up to this. One guy I would love to see, should Washington get knocked out in the first round, is Wilson. He might he extremely effective or he might be a sideshow under IIHF rules and reffing, but the entertainment value makes it worth it for me at this level of tournament.

Now it's down to a 2. Isn't this the entire 2022 Olympic Team crew with the addition of Nash? Doan stick to freakin riding your horses in Arizona.

Oh no , julien to coach. There is a reason he not in the nhl anymore , he is old school defensive coach and defensive team. Relying on his old veterans over and over and over even as the ship sinks he won’t change any lineups. Look at last Olympic, he failed by being stubborn

Please no more old. Out with the old. See what happened with staal and julien at the Olympic? Julien likes his old guys. Old guys will not lead us to the promised land
 
Why did they bring Julien and Doan back?

Canada looked horrendous at the Olympics and didn’t even play a single team that won a medal. Maybe they think these two have good relationships with nhl players? Only reason I could see this being a positive move.

I don't mind Julien being the coach...wouldn't be my first choice, but these are tough times. I wish, however, Doan would just stick to riding his horses in Arizona. My guess is Hockey Canada couldn't find anybody else interested in the gig.
