Brad Meier did the gold medal game in 2014 so not exclusively Canadian, but yes it's at least always been 2 NHL refs.

Even still I think the whistle will blow a bit more than it has in this tournament. Canada had as many power plays against Sweden in 2014 as they've had in 3 games at Four Nations.
Meier is a Canadian, citizen, raised in Canada, and one of the officials sent by Hockey Canada. I know that he was born in the United States and is presumably a dual citizen, but I remember this from the dumb raging Russian fans did when he reffed the USA/Russia game in 2014 and the fans were unaware that he was one of the Hockey Canada refs.

Laughable. more nonsense from the addarall riddled, shit filled adult diaper wearing governor of russia's 47th. oblast. formerly known as the USA.
Better to not bother commenting directly on the nonsense but Canada has never had a greater off-ice incentive to win than what USA has saddled us with.

Canada needs guys like Schaeffer and Dupont to hit moving forward because it's really crazy how many light years ahead of ours the USA defence is.

I think if you made a combined Canada/USA roster with 7 Dmen, the USA would have 6/7.

Makar would make it obviously but after that, hard to argue against Q. Hughes, Fox, Mcavoy, Werenski, and Slavin being the next ones up and, the way he's going, I think Faber gets the nod too.

They have Jake Sanderson, L. Hughes and Lane Hutson on the come up as well.

I think the Canadian D is terrific.

Well I guess we can put those marner as 13th forward/ not on the team posts to bed

I wouldn’t do too much of an overhaul on the roster as at least this group played together and it seemed evident at the start it was an issue. Guys like Stone, Marchand are probably better off getting passed next year though. If it’s on big ice, I can’t see them being effective and they looked out of place this tourney. Marchand still has the heart and hustle but is just too old. There’s plenty of players that can bring what Stone brings while not lacking the talent and speed.

Maybe someone else can be the starter by then who knows but Bingington deserves a spot after his performance tonight.

Marner stays. Don’t wanna hear it anymore.

I actually thought Doughty had a good tournament. He’s also gonna be at an age where his decline starts rapidly.

Bedard still hasn’t proven yet he belongs but has time.

For 2026

Crosby-McDavid-Marner
Celebrini-MacKinnon-Reinhart
Hagel-Point-Bedard
Bennett-Scheifele-Johnston
Jarvis, Marchand, Thomas

Toews-Makar
Morrissey-Weegar
Theodore-Pietrangelo
Harley, Parayko

Still think no Hyman was a big mistake for Team Canada at this tourney, make things easier for your best player for f***s sake in a short tournament with very little time to get chemistry with other players.

Instead the Team Canada brass stuck their thumbs up their ass and had Cirelli and Jarvis on the team doing f*** all.

You need to be smarter about roster selection than that, glad Canada pulled it out, but Hyman easily could've scored an extra goal or two against a USA team just based on the chemistry he already has with McDavid (has played with Marner before too). It was idiotic to pass on him, luckily for Team Canada they were able to eek it out.

Schiefle should've been on the team too. Also Harley was better than several Canadian D. Evan Bouchard will make it next time, has some things to figure out but he's just too big of a talent to leave off, guys like Parayko don't have the skill level to stick. Puck movement off the blue line wasn't great for Canada.

Some of that was Hyman's fault for starting the season ice cold.

3 goals in 2 months?

Respect to the American D core for sure. Slavin was incredible tonight and probably 9/10 people watching didn’t appreciate his full impact on the game. Too bad guys like Hughes, Morrissey and McAvoy weren’t in.

Bedard, Johnston, and Celebrini are going to be interesting decisions for 2026.

Are they willing to bring all of them? Maybe 2/3?

Petro + Theodore being back will be a huge positive too.

I honestly think that Marchand just won't have it for 26, he is really slowing down out there. The rest of the team is probably 99% going to be the 15-8 barring injuries though.

Also I haven't kept up but if Cooper is the coach my bet is that Cirelli would swap for Marchand from your list.

Not looking good for people who want to leave Marner off the team. He's the third highest scoring player in the NHL from Canada behind McDavid and MacKinnon. It's not happening.

Setup like 4 different plays, two of them went in to tie and win the game.

For me right now: NHL Officials (they were gréât btw all tournament compared to the IIHF refs) and small ice

Celebrini-McDavid-Point
Crosby-MacKinnon-Reinhart
Johnson-Johnston-Marner
Wilson-Bennett-Scheifele

(Hagel, Fantilli, McMichael, Verhaeghe, Bédard, Barzal, Kyrou, Thomas, Hyman, Suzuki, Cirelli)

Toews-Makar
Theodore-Pietrangelo
Morrisey-Harley(LH)
Clarke

(Parayko, Doughty, Dunn, Montour, Bryam, Power, Dobson, Bouchard)

Thompson
Binnington
Hill

(Kuemper, Montembault)

That is a nice team, my friend.

Shame for voting that Canada would lose this. :(

They're playing on NHL ice in Italy

It was his best and most noticeable game of the tournament.

Good for him to do it in the Final.

That was me. He proved me wrong and I'm happy he did.
