WC: Team Canada 2025

He lost his first World Juniors - 2004. Silver.

I thought he finished 2nd at the World Championships once - also winning Silver - but I might be misremembering.

Still, his international record is AMAZING - near perfect.

He lost to Sweden in 2006 semifinals. During that game a Swedish player crossed checked his face after he scored .

What I take from that interview is that the invites hasnt really started full speed yet. Probably because Columbus, Calgary, Montreal, Minnesota and St. Louis still is in the race. But all could change after tonight.

Myers would mean that they are struggling to get accepts, I would have to think. Can't read a lot into "on the radar" though.

Yeah, Myers has been injured the last couple of weeks, so I think its just a simple phrase. He will probably not be there. Its just that Myers and DeBrusk is the 2 most known canadian "names" on Canucks.

Possible Rangers....Lafreniere who can play either wing and LW Cuylle and a long shot Othmann on the LW . I'm not sure if Gabe Perreault has dual status ? On the D...maybe Schneider but he might be banged up some . If nothing else.....I hope Laf and Cuylle go.....it will be good for bothe players . Laf needs something at this stage to boost his confidence .

Cuylle is an RFA with no contract and Perrault is American.

Gabe Perreault isn't eligible to play for Canada.

Perreault I think can if he chooses since he was born in Canada . He has always played with the US program but he could play for Canada ...same as Brady Tkachuk could and like the dman that came in late for Canada at the 4 Nations to play...Harley ? ....dual citizenship .

I don't think it is because of not being eligible .....but I could be wrong .

They can't just switch national teams. There are rules, and once a player plays for one nation at an IIHF event (all three of these players have) they are mostly locked in unless they go through a several year (I think four year) process, one that no prominent player has ever done.

Tkachuk's mother is from Canada but I don't think he is a Canadian citizen. I think Harley is a dual citizen due to birthplace (raised in the US too) but again, he's locked in. Perreault, patriot that he is, went through some Hockey Canada programs I believe but is locked in for USA (rightly). None of these players will conceivably be switching national teams and it is not possible before this tournament anyway.

Gabe Perreault has played for the U.S. so.... there's no going back now.

Dreger just said that Tocchet turned down coaching the team.
Yes, he says that Hockey Canada wanted Tocchet but basically because of the shitshow in Vancouver this year Tocchet has too much to do. I'm still surprised though. I am curious to see the next choice, since Tocchet was such an obvious pick. Probably won't be popular but I wonder if they ask McLellan. He at least coached Canada's best ever team at this thing. Maybe the Tourigny well again, I don't really know. The best Canadian coaches are generally in the playoffs. Dean Evason is there but I don't think he's coached internationally before. Ruff is experienced, but also seems out of ideas.

Roy is the most interesting choice but I can't imagine he would go given his distaste for international hockey.
