Are we playing China again at the next phase? I guess it’s more or less as good as a bye, maybe even better with the extra shooting practice
Yes. Playing vs China on TuesdayAre we playing China again at the next phase? I guess it’s more or less as good as a bye, maybe even better with the extra shooting practice
For the record NyQuil.. I'm still celebrating the Czech 2010 victory and speak of it often!lolIt would be like when we win the World Championships.
It’s fun for the rest of the day and then we forget about it.

Yes, I'm still celebrating that too... but do NOT call it the Hasek years! He only played in one of those 6 gold tournaments! The Czechs won everything for awhile in that late 90s early 2000s.
It was an impressive run!
Just one thing I wanted to mention. A lot of the HFposters on here are usually NHL fans who watch the Jr's. That is their entire knowledge base.
So when I read stuff like 'send the entire Canadian Jr team' to the Olympics against Pro's I get annoyed.lol
From what I saw in our game at the Juniors... McTavish and Power were MILES ahead of the Czech team and easily looked like 2 of the best players in the tourney! Well, they're here surrounded by pro's and lost to a NCAA US team.
I hope people aren't thinking if we replaced all the pro's on this team with Jr players that Canada would do better at this tourney?
Power (1OV), Johnson (5OV) and McTavish (3OV) are all going to be amazing NHL players and are elite but still teenagers. Not many teenagers dominating here. Slafkofsky and these 3. Not sure if McTavish has a point yet and he had 5 in 2 games at the Juniors.
Just a talking point. Curious what people think?
For the record, I think Canada has a perfect draw to get to the Gold Medal game. Only 2 nations I had as favs against you were Finn's and Russians and they are on a collision course in the other bracket. Good luck! I like your chances to upgrade the bronze from the last non NHL Olympics.
I think its a young mans game. I wouldn't take an entire team of world jrs but I'd take a lot more youth than they did.Just one thing I wanted to mention. A lot of the HFposters on here are usually NHL fans who watch the Jr's. That is their entire knowledge base.

Experience counts. World champs 2021 the kids were panicking in the deciding games and the veterans, regardless of talent level were the ones who took home the gold for Canada.I think its a young mans game. I wouldn't take an entire team of world jrs but I'd take a lot more youth than they did.
Overagers like McBain, Ho-Sang, Levi, Knight, Staal, O'Dell are guys i'd be fine with. But when you have so many vets that you're relying on Staal to be a first liner, you should probably look else where for scoring.
Personally, I've seen better guys in the OHL than some of the players that Canada have out there. Maybe theres better vets that didn't get an invite but based on what I'm seeing, its hard to see why Canada picked someone like Barberio when theres a handful of better guys in Junior / NCAA that would probably be better.
Assuming we get by China, I believe it's then Sweden. Not a bad draw for us.

One step at a time. Just trying to enjoy the hockey.Assuming we get by China, I believe it's then Sweden. Not a bad draw for us.
The talent gap level between Mangiapane and Staal or Henrique and Winnik or Mario Ferraro and Barberio is night and day. I’d be fine with relying on GOOD veterans like the ones Canada had in the World Championships and playing them in a spot to succeed but most of Canada’s lineup is kind of a mess. You have a fourth liner like Staal on the top power play unit struggling to get anything going. Meanwhile Kent Johnson could easily be the best player in the tournament if he was given the same opportunities. Then in net they could’ve played Levi who is having an incredible season and has played great for Canada in the past but instead they went with a terrible goalie who let in 3-4 soft goals when it mattered.Experience counts. I dearly hope Canada switched things up for the rest of the way because Sweden will be very difficult to beat as they have a fantastic goalie.
3. TC needs to bring some younger blood to induce team speed and scoring. Max Veronneau, at 26 years of age (hockey players' prime time) , scoring leader in SHL, should be on this team. TC can easily take Adam Cracknell off the line up and replace him with Veronneau.
