From a pure skill/upside perspective, Räty is definitely the guy to go with.

Yeah I agree with this.

If I was the rangers and saw this bunch on the board . I'd probably try to trade back 3 or 4 spots and take one of raty or svechkov if they're there.

You can take a goalie is the first round if it’s a Wallstedt level prospect. You don’t reach on random mid round goalies. There is a difference. Wallstedt probably isn’t here on draft day but he is good enough that it makes the pick a bit of a no brainer.

He is 7 years younger than Igor and significantly better than any other goalie in the system. It’s the right pick in this situation.

Not sure how you pass on Wallstedt here. If a team was willing to pay a premium to trade up and get him I might trade down a couple spots where Pinelli, Raty, Svechkov, or ZLH was still there. Still, he's easily a top-10 talent this year and getting him at 15 is great value.

Unless this kid really is a lock to be an all star goalie I'd definitely prefer we take a F. All this Shesty is so old already talk doesn't resonate with me. I don't see why he can't be our starter for another decade. You want to add internal competition, I'm all for that. Why not sign a UFA or use one of our 3rd round draft picks to develop our own?
