In my opinion, I think he could be the best forward of the draft. His biggest issue is his skating, which was the knock on Vilardi.

He plays a full 200-foot game, has sense, skills, and compete.
Please, no more guys that can score but can't skate. Kings have been allergic to drafting guys with hands and speed. It seems like all the teams speedy players either have hands of stone (Wagner/Lizzote/Turcotte/Kupari/JAD) or are head cases (Kempe/AA/even Carter). Then there are the guys that can probably score are or have gotten too slow (Vilardi/Brown/Kopitar/Kaliyev/Andersson/Frk) with a few outliers tossed in (Moore/Iafallo/Byfield).

So you want someone with speed, skill, hockey sense, well-grounded, work hard, and is consistent?

I would like Connor McDavid to fall to 8th overall, too ;)

Every prospect has warts. You have to choose what warts your prospect(s) come with.

You read a little too much into that, I just don't want them to draft more guys that can't skate.

But then you mentioned fast skaters with other issues (like Kempe, Wagner, etc).

Apparently you don't want your prospect's warts to be skating. That's fine. Just be prepared for him to have other issues to accompany his fast skating.

If this pick is by needs: Wallsteadt

If this pick is BPA: Dylan Guenther or Kent Johnson
Why Wallstedt the Kings have as many as 4 developing goaltenders...Villata,Ingham,Parik and Hrenak! I think need a monster LD-man though a natural scoring winger can't hurt and Guenther fits that bill

I don't really agree with all of what he said, but if we are going to be taking prospects with "warts" maybe it's time that those warts are lack of size, lack of toughness, lack of grit and stuff like that as opposed to guys with warts like skating and lack of offensive ceiling. This team has had multiple chances to draft players who are already looking like difference making offensive players in the NHL the last few years and have failed to pull the trigger, it's a bit frustrating watching some of these guys we passed on shining at the NHL level.

That's defensible for sure.

I do think you're overlooking some of the skill players the Kings have taken, such as Vilardi and Kupari.

Granted, the Kings don't have a player who lacks size, with that skillset. But the Kings aren't averse to raw skill.

I like the prospects to have something to fall back on if they don't meet their potential. But I don't think you're "wrong" for thinking otherwise.

True, Lysell is one of those types. The Scouching guy really likes Lysell. The Kings at #8, may certainly surprise with Lysell. They like Swedes, for sure the past few yrs: Grundstrom, Bjornfot, Fagemo, Andersson...Moverare, Andre Lee. And then there's Eklund, Wallstedt and Edvinsson, that will all go early.

I saw a mock draft yesterday - I don't remember all the participants. Joel Henderson, a western region scout for FC, was a participant.

The pick for LA was Lysell. The picker thought Lysell could also become the best player of the draft.

IMO he’s in the mold of Caulfield/Stuetzle. Very electric, dangerous 1-1, smart, shifty and has excellent hands. I’ve seen others compare him to Marner, Panarin etc.

You need a guy like that next to Byfield in the future because Lysell complements what the Kings lack.

Anyone who has actually watched both able to explain why they'd go Lysell over Chibrikov outside of the KHL factor? I'd be furious if we went Lysell at #8

If looking for that piece please also explain what Lysell brings that Johnson doesn't who could well be available at 8 and is probably the most skilled player in the draft?

I haven't watched Chibrikov, simply because I've put an emphasis on players the Kings might grab. And I think everyone would be shocked if the Kings took a Russian in the first.

As for Lysell over Johnson - he's a faster skater. People love Johnson's/Zegras' cockiness, and Lysell and co essentially arranged to have him get loaned to an SHL team because he wanted to play more against tougher competition, displaying his confidence. So Frolünda loaned him to Luleå.

This has also been the source of "character issues" cited by some. He wanted to play against a higher level of competition, where he wouldn't have the opportunity in his initial parent club.

Edit: forgot to say, Lysell is more than a fast skater. He has a variety of high end skill, but also attacks the net and plays a more north-south game.

Is Lysell's nickname "Lysol"?

I honestly can't put my chips on one color. I think there are some nice players there and I'm really fine with any of them, except a Russian! I don't like Russians. :-)

I think the Kings/Reign need Wingers that can bang and dig out the puck and scorers! Lysell is a smallish winger and we have tonnes of them
