I went with 5 trades.

1- Monahan
2- Edmundson
3- Wideman or Kovacevic
4- One trade for pick against some cap space to facilitate another trade
5- One of Drouin, Dadonov or Hoffman

Not enough….

The disjointed/incongruous nature of this roster cannot be overstated…. IMO, we would be so much better of a team if we got rid of every “veteran” on this team and replaced them with young players from Laval that were younger, hungrier and most importantly more moldable to play how MSL wants to play. I think MSL is unique coach that is genuinely interested and passionate about teaching players how to play the “right” way. Most coaches are just motivators focusing on wins and losses.

We need more talent but we need roster spots and cap space to bring the type of players in that either already play this way or have the aptitude/ willingness to play his way.

You see evidence of this in how well our “Laval” line is playing right now…. Having a group of players all pulling in the same direction is more important than “veterans” and their individual skills and experience.

Trade them all for whatever you can get and eat as much salary as Molson will let you…

Likely 2. I expect Monahan and Edmundson to go. The others will likely stay unless he gets a sixth or seventh for Drouin and Dadonov. He might just bite the bullet and take those late picks to build his asset pool.

I said 2...
He's going to work hard to get another 1st - either 2023 or 2024. What will be the deal, I dunno.
The 2nd trade will be one of the UFA (50% retained) for a late pick.
The summer/draft should be much more interesting.

I don’t mind rushing trade (monahan) even if it means we lose the chance of a late first (2024) for a mid third.

In my opinion, going from 7-8OV to 4-5OV (and increasing lottery odds) is most important. Monahan breathing life into this team dangers the tank and he should be traded ASAP

I'm hoping for quite a few, but realistically, 3 is probably as much as we'll get. Too many of our soon to be UFAs are having a bad season and just don't have much value anymore at the deadline.

I went with 3.................he would love to make 4-5 but I just don't see it.
Luckily some of the garbage gets taken out in April, and never comes back.

Anderson > we can still use him no rush to trade him. His value will be higher in the next couple of years.

Hoffman > no rush to trade him, better keep him and hope he has a good season and trade him when is value is higher.

Monahan > might not be worth much, trade if you can.

Edmundson > his back is finished, trade if possible.

Drouin > very low value if any, maybe a team takes a chance if he's healthy.

Gallagher > untradeable.

Armia > very low trade value, bad contract.

Dadonov > very low trade value.

So that's it really, I don't see much happening at the deadline. The off-season could bring us Dubois.

And Dvorak, Pezzetta, Matheson, Savard, Kovacevic, Wideman.....you think they are 100% safe?
Someone call for Savard and a 1st is on the table?

Maybe it's my Bergevin's PTSD, but we've seen often GM gave away low pick for depth players that didn't move the needle.

Hughes has to make some room to let MSL play kids as much as possible until the end of the season.
For experience and tanking!

There already is all the room necessary for kids to play with all the injuries. I'm expecting little movement from this team. The off-season should be more active and hopefully bring us PLD.

Ryan Carpenter was worth a 5th last year
Tyler Motte and Namestnikov it was a 4th round pick

We won,t get stuff valuable but in many of those cases, something is better than nothing.
It's the silly time of the year, some GM will want to do something just for appearances without paying a little like Bergevin did so many times! I could see a GM give up a 5th for Dadonov just to try something!

I voted for 2, just don't want to be overly optimistic, ideally it would be more, you send future UFAs for -whatever- you can get, otherwise you just lose them for nothing, and won't be re-signed anyway.

I think we are going to be disappointed by the activity this year compared with last year's TDL. Monahan and Edmundson are injured, and unless they get healthy soon they will be very difficult to move. Dadanov and Drouin will be lucky to return a bag of dirty underwear. Anderson is more likely to be moved in the offseason, as players with longer term contracts are dealt then much more often than in season. Savard and Hoffman are in similar situations. Gallagher and Armia are pretty much impossible to trade right now. Byron on LTIR may be a possibility for an expiring contract and a draft pick to a team looking to create cap space for other moves.

A few weeks ago, I would have answered « at least 3 »; one trade for each of the Habs’ salary retention spot available (Monahan @ 50%; Edmunson @ 50% and one of Dadonov/Drouin @ 50%), in order to take advantage of the last remnants of dead cap era.

Now, especially with Monahan’s murky injury status, I think « 2 » is a likelier result, hopefully Edmundson for a package including a (former) 1st+ and one redundant winger for a cap dump and a small incentive.

How many stiffs we have... lessee

Hoffman, Dadonov, Drouin, Armia, Gallagher, Wideman, Edmundson, Dvorak, Anderson, Pitlick...

there. 10 trades. I expect Hughes to complete 10 trades.

11 if you count Monahan who is not a stiff, but probably needs to be moved anyway.

Have to keep Allen. Can't trust Monty with the tank.

Monahan (conditional 1st depending on his health)
Edmundson (conditional 1st depending on his health)

One of the random wingers get moved for a team interested: Drouin, Hoffmann, Dadanov

AHL trade.

If we don't get these pieces for Monahan and Edmundson I doubt we trade them.

Hoffman has been playing better and he doesn’t have a spot long term. He may not bring back a lot but he could move. They could get s serious offer on Savard, Savard is fine if he’s in the correct spot, third pairing. Monahan should go if he gets healthy, he’s great but he’s not likely to be good by the time the team is.

Anyone over 25 or on an expiring contract is fair game, but probably hard to move.

Not that's it's great or anything, but Dadonov also has 11 points in his last 24 games too. Might fetch a 5th at 50% for a team with injuries or looking for depth.

No one cares
Look at the list I provided above... who wouldn't want all these studs in their lineup? Better yet... all at once.
It's hard to believe that any gm would want any of our trade bait unless they get it really cheap. If Monahan had managed to remain healthy he would have been our best bet for a first-rounder. Edmundson is really just a bottom 3 defender on a good team and won't be getting us a big haul either. As for the rest, we could give them away I guess lol. There is always the possibility of a hockey trade but those usually come during the draft.

i hope he keeps Anderson till the summer and gives him a line to play on, really test him out. I feel like if they trade him, they will spend a while trying to replace him anyways.
