Look at my sign up date friend.. I was the 2nd Bolts fan here. LOL

EDIT: er... 3rd. @Rschmitz AND @Hoek GOT ME BEAT, I remember them both from sunshine network boards pre-04 cup era, although I had a very different screen name those days.

Me and Hoek have been here since the 90’s, they forced everyone to re-register in 2002 when they adopted this new messageboard. We have seen some things.

What was your name back then?

I like Bjorkstrand and could see us playing him on either on either the 2nd or 3rd. I think Cooper's been proving recently you can play anyone with Hagel and Cirelli and still have a decent line. I'm going to assume he's plays on the 2nd though.

I haven't seen Gourde play since he left the team, but he's currently on the 40+ point pace he managed his first two seasons in Seattle. I really wish we could have kept Eyssimont and sent Gonzo down as I consider Eyssimont to be a more effective player than Chaffee, Girg or Gonzo.

Our bottom six still needs offensive help. I'd like to think we could bring Geekie back up, but he's not been lighting up in Syracuse so far. Half of our bottom six remains very unexceptional.

I hate that we gave up two firsts. Paying for retention instead of getting an additional player is kinda depressing. Most everyone thinks our draft picks are just tickets to the next cup round, but in spite of this trade, I only consider our cup window to be potentially reopening because of Vasy's play the second half of this season.

All that aside, I'm excited to see what Bjork can do for the offense and Gourde does for the bottom six.
How do you not pay for retention and then fit someone extra under the cap?

Julien Big Balls.... I love it

I thought more about it and I hope we trade for Maroon for the sheer sake of us being a blight upon the face of humanity again. I didn't think anyone could come close to that 2010 Canucks team but I'll be damned if our opponents didn't hate us as much. I don't care if all they do is whack an ankle after a whistle. I truly didn't understand how important all that "heel work" was until it won us Cups.

It breaks your opponent down

Lets see if these posters are still around in 3 years when this team has no assetts
God willing I'll be in Amalie opening night staring up at 2 more Cup banners and I'll be talking to my family and friends about how 21 will join 4 and 26 in the rafters along with 77, 86, 88, 91 someday. Talking about what the banner/mural/statue to Jon Cooper may look like one day. And the debate will be if Pointer is a HHOFer with the others. If we win 5 Cups, that's what happens. God knows we went to 4 finals with a lot of these guys already

What we stand to accomplish in the next 3 years in addition to our previous success of the last 12ish years has only really been done a few times since expansion. Your Montreal, Oiler and Islander dynasties and Detroit's 25 year run. Although I argue we are just more similar to Detroit than the actual dynasties. But it's more success than most teams see in 40 years

The kind of history we are talking about lives forever. And it's worth all the draft picks. All of them

That's what we are betting on. We just have to go and do it

I am such a HF newbie that this team has missed the playoffs just once during my stay here. But that was the exact season that I joined here, so am I not a gloryhunter after all? I'm not sure how this works.

JBB paid 2 1sts for Hagel but he was RFA with a great contract not 5.5 million 30 years old
He isn't 5.5 million but 1/4 of 5.5 million. So approximately slightly less than 1.4 million per year.

This is an overpayment in my opinion, plain and simple. Instead of haggling over cost JBB got the player he wanted instead of getting a less ideal fit. This is what he does and if Bjorkstrand plays amazing here it’s worth every bit.
It would be an overpayment if we weren't in win now mode with an aging core and also we got 75% of yanni's money retained . Bjorkstad could be a great get or above aberage middle 6 winger on a decent contract or he could improve .

Why are so many of you uncomfortable calling it in overpayment? It’s ok to admit that and still like the move for the team.

We grossly overpaid for Hagel too and it turned into the best trade in franchise history. It’s fine

Indeed.
Is it better to pay a higher price but get the exact fit of players you want to join your team, or you prefer not to overpay to the eyes of the public opinion but get some rentals that don't fit the mold of the team?

JBB in a single trade filled the 2RW hole and gave the team some much needed depth (while also getting back a player who's already used to Coop and the system and is gonna terrorize the opponents with his relentless style of play).

‘04 crew checking in! I also found this place back in the golden age of Bolts boards - the Times, Sunshine Network and even think Boltprospects (sp) all had somewhat active boards that were worth a visit.
