Confirmed with Link: [TBL/SEA/DET] Oliver Bjorkstrand, Yanni Gourde (75% retained), Kyle Aucoin, 2026 5th for Mike Eyssimont, 2026 1st, 2027 1st, 2025 2nd, 2025 4th

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
I would hope for this...

Beavis - Point - Kucherov
Hagel - Cirelli - Bjorkstrand
Gourde - Paul - Chaffee
Girgensons - Glendening - Goncalves

Id like to see an upgrade over Goncalves or Girgensons. Primarily Girgensons as he doesn't really bring anything worthwhile to the team. Give me a Girgensons for Maroon trade and we are close to dickheadedness of 2020-2022. As it stands, only Paul, Gourde and maybe Chaffee/Goncalves stir the pot. We need one more back there to hold their own.

Bjorkstrand having another year on his contract and McDonagh and Gourde potentially signing team friendly deals in the offseason is a nice thing
We got 1 more year on Mcdonagh, I don't think we'll re-sign him before the end of next season.

Just to highlight how signing players to long term deals that are supposed to age badly is overblown, I remember there being a ton of flack on this contract about how he was going to be a husk of a man by the end but worth it because he'd bring us a cup.

Love the Bjork move and will be pleasantly surprised if the Gourde we're getting back is anything close to the Gourde we had four years ago. I have my doubts but hopefully the return will re-energize him. However, father time (especially the way he plays and at his size) and injuries have to have taken their toll. I mean seriously, if he is within 10 lbs of the 174 he's listed at I would be surprised. Still, a worthy gamble given the other major piece of the deal.

Agreed.. I have to be honest seeing this trade made me want to throw up. You give up two firsts and a second and the best player you get is Bjorkstand?

I get that this coaching staff couldn’t develop a chia pet so picks are moot but f***
Second part redeemed the first part. Lol.

I think there's a lot of factors at times. There are just GMs that overpay and "get their guy," there are dumb GMs, smart ones, and the kind that are pretty tone deaf altogether. I think JBB is the first type. Also have to factor in het essentially set and/or beat the "going rate" that others may pay for a second liner. Lastly, he did it before a potential bidding war or situation like last year.

I think this was a solid move. We are a better team today and next year with this move. Two roster spots for Geekie and Howard are likely up for grabs and they should be ready by next season (or more/debut appearances this season). We just need a better bottom six.

If we didn’t have a Howard, Gauthier in the wings and Chaffee and Geekie hopefully gonna take off, I’d tend to agree. But the firsts would be late rounders and they’re 3+ years away from POSSIBLY cracking a lineup. And the word POSSIBLY is kinda important.

Lets see if these posters are still around in 3 years when this team has no assetts
We've been saying this type of stuff for years and we've stayed afloat. You acquire capital as time progresses, ie, and entire draft class. Why not utilize that to essentially "purchase" established players? Our forward group can remain competitive for another five years. That's 2 more 1sts and a load of picks JBB can use to acquire players.

Our issue then becomes defense. We are on a shorter timeline for the backend. Either via draft, FA, or trade, we somehow need a #1 or potential #1 by maybe 2028. If not, forward group won't matter much by then.
