Pretty sure this is standard for signing someone who to an NHL contract mid-season who's not signing their ELCI don't really get this. Is there an imminent trade? This puts us at 21/23 roster spots and we were already cap compliant with Halverson on the roster after Sheary got called up this morning, so no need for a paper transaction. Is JBB finally cooking?
Really? How come?Pretty sure this is standard for signing someone who to an NHL contract mid-season who's not signing their ELC

The thing is Johansson isn't supposed to be back before the end of the Four Nations tournament and we were already cap compliant and at 22/23 roster spots before they sent down Halverson. So I don't understand why he'd be on waivers. Johansson is only considered day to day and never left the roster, so he was one of those 22 players already. I don't understand why else he'd have been sent down other than to make room for incoming players but no trades seem imminent other than Elliotte linking the Bolts to Alex Tuch this morning IF he's even available. What he's talking about only applies if a player has played for another league during the same season, like the KHL or something like that. Halverson was already on an AHL contract with Syracuse, so that rule doesn't apply to him.
The real answer is that he got called up to be the backup for a game, which is why they signed him to the NHL contract, and now he's being sent back down, which requires waivers.
