I don't really get this. Is there an imminent trade? This puts us at 21/23 roster spots and we were already cap compliant with Halverson on the roster after Sheary got called up this morning, so no need for a paper transaction. Is JBB finally cooking?

Pretty sure this is standard for signing someone who to an NHL contract mid-season who's not signing their ELC

Really? How come?

What he's talking about only applies if a player has played for another league during the same season, like the KHL or something like that. Halverson was already on an AHL contract with Syracuse, so that rule doesn't apply to him.

The real answer is that he got called up to be the backup for a game, which is why they signed him to the NHL contract, and now he's being sent back down, which requires waivers.
