I genuinely don’t remember who this player is.

Like, I even Googled him, and saw that he played significant time for two seasons for the Lightning, and it still doesn’t ring a bell.

His career stat line against carolina is pretty ok. 9-6-2 record. .935 save percentage and 1.78 gaa. Only one shutout though, which is nice.

Bearing in mind that league average vs the Hurricanes of that era probably doesn’t look much different...

EDITED with the corrected numbers by SBA which makes it even worse.

Actually, you had me curious so I looked and it really did look like he had the Canes number. Over those 2 years (06-08), the Canes record without playing Holmqvist was: 81W, 61L, 14 OTL so a 92.5 point pace for 82 games. Going 2-6-0 against Holmqvist is a 41 point pace for 82 games.

Scoring wise, the Canes scored a 2.99 Goals / Game over those two years, yet he held us to a 1.78 GAA.

I'm kind of with Anton Dubinchuk, I barely remember the guy but he owned us.

I know you're being facetious, but I'm going to dig up some stats anyway.

Only to get beat to the punch by BBA.

Also I realized I'm an idiot and read the chart wrong. He played in 9 games, with a record of 6-2-0.

But still, a career .890 guy managed to clown us almost every time he faced us. Feels bad man.

I'm kind of with Anton Dubinchuk, I barely remember the guy but he owned us and it's safe to say is the reason the Canes did not make the playoffs those 2 years, or at least one of them.

The more I look at it, the more hilarious his stat lines are.

2006-07
Holmqvist against everyone else: .890
Holmqvist against @NHLCanes: .930

2007-08
Holmqvist against everyone else: .884
Holmqvist against @NHLCanes: .940
