He's not being a jerk, he's just a very sarcastic life-long Ranger fan who has been through the ringer with this team. You should check out his Ranger crisis shows on YouTube, hilarious stuff. I also disagree with Taylor being in the worst 10 Rangers of the decade. There was Redden, Jessiman, Mironov, Ballej, Rupp, Brashear, Montoya, Malik, Anson Carter, Frolov, Kotalik....you get my drift. If Pyatt was earning more than 2 lemons a season, then it would be different. You can't teach size, and he has it.

Half of those werent regular rangers though.

Oh boy Rissmiller takes the cake, how about that Tyler Arnason ;p

Rissmiller? How many games did he play with us? 2 games? And Arnason? Zero games?

Pyatt top 10 worse Rangers of the past decade? jeez he's been flat out invisible for about 30 games but not THAT bad

for about 30 games? Which makes that about 95% of his rangers career no?

Jokinen, Backman, Malakhov, Lundmark, Lefebvre, Karpa, Purinton, Mironov, Balej, Rucchin, Bozolinsh, Strudwick, Kondratiev, Marcel Hossa, Frolov, Isbister, Dawes, Liffiton, Hollweg, Blowmez, Drury, Pock, Voros, Rissmiller, Reitz, Lisin, Redden, Todd White, Woywitka...

that's just a few.

Pyatt is probably better than them all (except for Jokinen, Drury, Blowmez, and Redden in their primes).

Hossa and Isbister were passable on Jagr's wing.

Adam Hall was worse than anyone mentioned in this thread.

I actually think Pyatt started out pretty well, even looked good on the 2nd line in spurts early in the year. Wouldn't give up on him yet.. was always a fan

Agreed. He is in my top 3.

That's cause Jaromir Jagr is one of the greatest players in the history of the game, and if he didn't play in Russia would be right there with the 3 greatest of all time.

Pyatt was good for about 5 games and bad for the rest. What a bust of a move.. but I guess this can happen with borderline guys for cheap

I can name 10 worse in the last decade and Stan Neckar even though it was over 10 years ago he will be on any list with the words "Worst" and "Rangers" .. I'm still offended by him.

New York Rangers NHL 18 0 0 0 8 -1

18 games and I was scarred for life.

People still love to crap on Malik.... guy wasn't great by any stretch but he was a serviceable d-man. He made up our top pair with Roszival and it's not like Rosey was Lidstrom. They got the job done. Plus, the SO winner against Washington is enough to keep him in my good graces for a while....

His problem was every mistake he happened to make found its way into the back of our net. Ok, maybe good graces is a little strong, but I don't hate him nearly as much as everyone else.

I thought he looked pretty good yesterday

He has at one point contributed offensively, and even if he isn't great defensively, we don't get scored on a lot when he's on

Yeah ,he is absolutely worthless. Didn't like the deal when it happened. I felt it was a pointless move to get this useless player.

I'm surprised, I really thought he would be a good addition to our system.

I'm sure he'll be moved and find decent success somewhere else. Just isn't working out here. That can be said for about half of our current team though.

I think the real question here is do the Rangers feel the same way we do about Pyatt? Everyone's saying he should be dealt but does the organization feel the same way?

its not that hes a bad player (doesnt make to many mistakes).. hes smart.. but imo just fit in here in bottom 6..hes slow doesnt do much.. we need tough physical player with some size and skill.. torres, clowe, etc..

It's his lack of speed that is the killer. On top of that, the bottom-6 has NO skill players and what you get is decent bottom-6ers like Pyatt and Boyle needing to create offense when they are not capable of it.

Soft mediocre player he has been his entire career. Another outstanding bottom 6 free agent signing by our management. Make a list of the players we have signed via free agency to play in our bottom 6 the past 5 years. Have a barf bag handy.

He brings nothing to the table and it's amazing to me how anyone can complain about Boyle while this guy is playing every night.

I had high hopes for Pyatt after the way he started the season, but after the first few games he has done absolutely nothing.

Jokinen, Backman, Malakhov, Lundmark, Lefebvre, Karpa, Purinton, Mironov, Balej, Rucchin, Bozolinsh, Strudwick, Kondratiev, Marcel Hossa, Frolov, Isbister, Dawes, Liffiton, Hollweg, Blowmez, Drury, Pock, Voros, Rissmiller, Reitz, Lisin, Redden, Todd White, Woywitka...

Damn man that list made me puke in the mouth alittle bit

What angers me about Pyatt was the notion he'd bring "skill" to our bottom-6, thereby justifying our decision to let Prust and Feds walk over slightly better offers.

How many shifts have you seen Pyatt with Stepan this season? Or Richards? Nash? Cally? Gaborik? Pyatt has logged ice-time with mostly NYR slugs all season long and people here want to evaluate him as non-contributing.

The guy has always been mostly between what, 20 and 30 pts per season? Slats knew what he was looking to add. A guy that likes to grind, can wear down defenders down low, and can make a play or two per game. Pyatt was Slats answer to losing Dubinsky and replacing him with a low priced alternative.

Of course everyone here wants to save money on guys like Dubinsky, yet when they get that discounted version, they come here complaining that they want a 45+ pt 3rd/4th line tweener.

Last night at the bar I actually heard this conversation about Pyatt:

We need an Antropov instead of Pyatt. He's a big guy with quick hands that can score goals. Pyatt never does any of that. Pyatt needs to get his game to that point.

So yea, lets compare an NHL 1st liner with a salary of 4.7m playing with the best players on his team, to a role player that's valued around 1.4m and plays with the regulars from the island of misfit toys?

TL;DR: I'm no Pyatt fan, but a 3rd/4th liner making 1.4m is hardly the problem on this team. I can't think of really any player that you replace him with that makes this team better by any real margin.
