it's going to be fun seeing Hall play well in the Eastern conference while this Oilers team continues to struggle to stop goals, produce goals and of course win games. Adding Adam Larsson isn't enough for this team to make the next big push. We had our Adam Larsson a couple years ago with Petry and we still never went anywhere and I'd take Petry over Larsson any day.

If you think Petry is better than Larsson, your all alone on that assessment.

I wish this trade was done a week before pre-season started. Still 2 months left to argue about this trade before we actually see if the Oilers can be a better team or not because of it. boooooo.

Where did we finish this year?

Then we wouldn't have got Lucic and we'd probably overpay for Demers. It was perfect timing IMO.

I suppose I didn't fully think my comment through :) I was mainly just saying I'm tired of all the arguing about what affect this trade will actually have on the Oilers and we still have 2 more months to argue about it. It's so tiresome already :(

Watching Hall in the east will certainly be enjoyable. For some reason the Devils are a team i end up watching more than a bit.

However.

Anyone who compares Jeff Petry to Larsson just doesn't watch enough hockey period.

Petry at his best is Larsson on a very bad day.

I wonder how many more times certain posters will hijack the thread to **** all over other players that they don't like with false narratives and conjecture?

I swear I've seen the word narrative on here so much more this summer than ever before. I am officially declaring it the word of the year!

Sorry I disagree, People thinking Larsson will be coming here and being that guy and thinking he will be an amazing defenseman, will be up for a rude awakening when he is just another prototypical two-way defenseman.

Very different players.

Petry will never be that calming rock back there, but Larsson will likely never have the transitioning ability Petry has.

Larsson doesn't skate as well as Petry but he has a better outlet pass while being far better defensively. Petry is a similar player to Sekera in that he's sollid in a lot of areas but doesn't excel at anything and I still take Sekera over him because he produces more offense.

I can't imagine that any GM would take Petry over Larsson long term and when factoring in contracts, it's not really close.

But I think Hall would have stuck if he had shown anything with McDavid. That they barely played together is telling of either two things;

1) the org didnt care to find out
2) the players didnt care to find out

Lost footage of Oilers fans when we drafted McD!

It's going to be fun watching Hall and the Devils get their teeth kicked in all year because their defense looks like ass after this trade. They signed Brandon Gormley today and he might be an NHL regular there this year.

The Oilers' big push should come from the guys already in the organization. Having Larsson now gives the rest of the defense some stability now having a player capable of eating key minutes against top competition. He makes everyone else's job a little easier.

The Petry comparison is just silly. Larsson is better than him in every single aspect of his game.

I expect him to start out a bit like Sekera. Be a bit rough to start and then settle in nicely.

No one expect doughty 2.0 domination right out the gate.

I was going to post that the fans here, myself included, are carrying a little more swag when it comes to the team. Don't know if it's the right term, but I can taste a change in the atmosphere, no matter what side of an opinion you're on.

Just a weird little 6th sense I get occasionally but very infrequently as well.

Just "feels" like a change is coming.

:dunno:

I find it funny how much people are still crying about this trade , hate the oilers current gm who is making us a team WAY more tough to play against . Well then move it the hell along and cheer for another team.
