I've been gone for a while because this team was anemic and boring to watch and I didn't renew my NHL Gamecenter deal for the last two months of the season.
I'm back.
This is going to be a somewhat unpopular opinion but I'm just going to come right out and say it, Adam Larsson never lived up to his potential for a FOURTH OVERALL draft pick. Again, if he was a 2nd rounder or a 3rd rounder I'd be more optimistic, but I expected much more out of a fourth overall.
His skating never impressed me and, frankly, it's not very good. His offensive ability either hasn't been tapped into yet or doesn't exist and he didn't show many signs of being a bonafide #1. He's a solid #3/#4, but not a #1.
Could Larsson be a #1 eventually? It's possible. You could see that his play started to take an upward trajectory over the last two seasons - but I don't think he would have ever lived up to his draft position.
In return, the Devils get one of the best wingers in the game, a guy that will put up offensive numbers we haven't seen since Parise and Kovalchuk were here and he'll make the players around him better too (*cough* Henrique *cough*)
If this deal was offered to me I'd take it 100 times out of 10.

Ya he was adamant that replacing Lars will be tough, but was equally adamant that this is a trade you have to make. The chance to get Hall straight up was way to good to pass.
Hope the best for both of our teams. I'll be cheering for you guys anytime you don't play us. Hall has been my favorite player ever since draft day 2010. Unbelievable speed, will go through a brick wall to win, great character. Super sad to see him go. Hope Larsson can be good for us.

Not much. Only 2 million. They are taking it way to hard as they needed this.
I mean I guess they could of gotten better value, but you can't rely on that. A deal was on the table for a big time D-man.
Lars is a solid defender who any team would love to have, but... coulda got more. Coulda woulda shoulda.
One thing Hall has never been great at is finishing on breakaway's so hopefully you stay out of the shootout

interesting shero thinks andy greene is an offensive defenseman. it's crazy to look back to 2009-10 and see the points he put up
Because they believe the main board theme that Larsson is just a second pairing defenseman.

He can be but I don't see how you use him as more of an offensive d-man in the immediate future. It was gonna be tough enough to get him in more offensive situations with Larsson around.

I found it more interesting that he brought up the zone starts stat to justify it. Makes me curious what he thought of Lar's offensive potential.
He also mentioned he wanted to split Greene and Lars up at some point.

Hall's a normal guy. Met him around the city a few times and is very professional.
Edmonton just has these guys under a microscope and a lot of girls like Hall and that bothers a lot of the dudes out here.
Also idiot fans who stand beside his table at a resturant and try to talk to him while his family is visiting.

Whoever the analyst is on NHL tonight called Larsson - more of a #3 defenseman
It was probably Brian Boucher. How that guy got an analyst job is beyond me.
