Didn't Toronto media predict Toronto would get Tavares when his ELC ended?:popcorn:
Last time JT's contract was about to expire, he signed 10 months early saying he did not want the contract to be a locker room distraction. We will see how it plays out.

Snow will have roughly $20M in cap space. He said days ago he will open extension talks in July 2017, a yr before JT is scheduled to hit the ufa market.

Come on Islanders fans, you know it to be true in your heart. Just like with Stamkos, Tavares has been leaving the door open towards going home. There's nothing greater in sports than being born in Toronto and going home to don the blue and white. This is a slam dunk deal and I for one will be at the airport when Tavares flies into town.

It's a shame that the Maple Leafs have SOOO many fans. Just based on the law of averages, that means there have to be more toolboxes amongst them.

For any of you Leaf fans that are "so certain" that Tavares is going to wind up signing with them in 2018, let's see how serious you are. I'll bet each of you $100 that it doesn't happen.

I hope Islanders fans get the same satisfying ending we got. Honestly, Tavares is more likely to resign with his team than Stamkos ever was. He's the kind of guy who would probably step in and put an end to any rumors too.
 
Will Islanders fans turn on Tavares and call him washed up trash until the day he inevitably re-signs with them?
 
This is why I don't feel bad about all the **** Leafs fans are taking right now over Matthews not being signed. The McDavid delusions last year were crazy enough, just stop.
 
There will never be a Canadian Zach Parise.

Stamkos thought he could force Yzerman to up the money. Didn't work.
Stamkos never wanted to leave TB and came crawling back with his tail between his legs.

As a Leafs fans I'd love JT but doubt very much if he leaves the Islanders.

I hope the Toronto media doesn't become as stupid with JT as they were with Stamkos.
 
Sure he is. Just like everybody thought Stamkos wanted to play in Toronto. I mean it was a done deal right??
