Proposal: Tavares To Leafs

The Islanders would want Martin back as He was The Heart and Soul of the team....Snow is The worst GM so when The New Owner fires Him The ship must be righted. Who in The World wants to play Hockey on a BasketBall Court in Brooklyn? If Tavares does not jump ship that would be surprising. Tavares is totally frustrated spending more time in the sin bin then ever before. Overtime You look at Tavares he never is smiling Ever! If He is so unhappy( and I don't blame him....Might as well trade him before He walks!

really though, Matthews+top 10 pick + 2nd for a guy that is 7 years older and is a UFA next year? Matthews is outscoring Tavares thus far as well.
players the leafs would trade matthews for include Mcdavid....thats it really. we all know thats not gonna happen, and Auston will be a leaf for at least 7 years, likely longer

I actually just sighed when I saw the title. I proceeded to facepalm when I saw the proposal.

As weird as it is to say this, I would rather keep Matthews. I can only dream that he'll turn out to be as good as Tavares but given Rielly, Nylander and Marner are closer to Matthews' age, it makes more sense to increase the overlap of their prime years.

While I can respect that you might not want Tavares for the expected salary I highly doubt Islander fans would accept your offer. It's not just about what you would offer, it's also about what they would accept.

Nylander should be close to untouchable. Why would we trade someone who has the potential to be a top 15 scorer in the NHL for a guy with two years left on his contract and much older?
Don't want to trade any of Matthews, Nylander or Marner unless the offer is unfair. JVR, Nylander and Kapanen for Tavarse + Dumps doesn't strike me as blowing it out of the water.

In fairness only idiots would think one poster represented the average fan, or even a dozen of them. Funny thing is........
Silly proposal. Like Stamkos before him we cannot afford the assets to acquire him unless the only asset is money. Considering our core I doubt he is on our radar at all. Love JT but I do not see him ever being a Leaf except maybe at the end of his career.

Dont think anyone will lose sleep if JT isnt a Maple Leaf in a couple years.
