"Killer instinct" was mentioned like 50X by Dubas and Shanahan in the end of season press conferences. And the solution is.... Tatar?

Hard to think of a guy with a worse reputation than Tatar for disappearing in the playoffs.. 12 points in 40 games, and a healthy scratch by both Montreal and Vegas for significant stretches in the playoffs.

Basically the perfect Hyman replacement.
Tatar 12 points - 40 games
Hyman 13 - 32 games

Sure hope not. He is awful. Not even an NHL player.
Lol some people on here. His play compared to what the system Ducharme and them implemented is part of the reason he sat.

Like I get his playoffs and stuff but for Leaf fans to be using that as an excuse not to sign the guy is crazy based on the performance of their guys in the playoff. Playoffs aside judging by how their depth looks absolutely gutted. They could use him.

Last two seasons:

68gp - 22g - 39a - 60pts
50gp - 10g - 20a - 30pts

To say this guy isn't even an NHL player is kind of ridiculous and a bit of not having a clue what you are saying.

Tatar would make a perfect Leaf. Performs well in the regular season and then disappears in the playoffs! He fits the Leafs mould!

Nobody is denying the fact Marner(especially) and Matthews being worthless offensively was the main reason we lost, I'm saying you stating our depth produced is simply not accurate. Our offense as a whole was disappointing against Montreal and certainly didn't inspire confidence when the 11 million dollar captain was in the lineup and we were getting shutout by CBJ in an elimination game either.

I'm not trying to advocate for Hyman as some kind of playoff warrior, but his numbers were okay prior to this postseason when he clearly didn't look like an individual who should have been playing.

You have to understand we have to actually make the playoffs, in the Atlantic division. As of this very moment Boston, Tampa and Florida all look stronger on paper than Toronto. We're going to be in tough to make the playoffs.

Hyman has been terrible in the playoffs. Last three playoffs 19 games 3 goal 2 assists. He is literally only worth 1 goal a playoffs playing on the top line. That is horrendous for a guy seeing 20 minutes a night in the playoffs.

I was under the impression, and a couple of Habs fans at the Bolts games told me, that he was hurt and that was part of his poorer than usual play and why he wasn't playing in the playoffs.

I've always liked him and think he could do well in the right situation.

He was not hurt. He was useless.

It's not like his linemates were lighting the lamp this postseason. His 11 million dollar linemate has produced 0 goals in his last 18 playoff games.

I wouldn't have touched re-signing Hyman at the price Edmonton did, but I sure as hell would've been trying to replace his regular season production, at the very least.

Tatar would make perfect sense..

I'm not against it by the way I think a top 6 of

Tatar Matthews Maraner

Kerfoot Tavares Nylander is pretty good, we know Kerfoot can play top 6 we have seen him do it and he done it VERY well

I'm just not sure where you get Tatar to the Leafs from that tweet

Didn't say Marner is any better just that Hyman was no playoff warrior himself. I find it pretty ironic that Edmonton signed Hyman to help them advance in the playoffs when he can't score on a soccer net in the playoffs.

As for replacing his production in the regular season still a long time before the season starts. Lots of guys still out there.
