Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The provincial attitudes expressed by us North Americans is pathetic & embarrassing frankly.
I find folks who speak multiple languages fascinating. I know very little of other languages (Spanish 101, a little French) but at least can say dirty phrases in Swedish, and can order beers in tons of others but it amazes me when people are fluent. Especially as the above poster mentioned now “thinking” in English.

Was in Rio for a week before I realized they don’t conjugate for whom they're speaking to, u conjugate for urself, so every women I “thanked” looked at me oddly for a sec lol

Glad you're safe bud. My friend is getting married in SP July 4th and he's worried about people traveling to the wedding from Rio, because of the current climate down there. I saw some scary homemade vids shook me up a bit. I still wish I could go, but work just won't die.

I went during the Olympics for work. I’m not gonna lie I saw some pretty awful shit. Luckily my hotel was brand new and right next to the boxing venu which was very close to Athlete Village... very high security. When I went to opening ceremonies... that was the worst. Places I saw on the drive... trying to get on a bus after was SCARY. Like people trampling people... almost rioting... trying to stop busses my jumping in front of them... AND THAT WAS MEDIA! It was insane.

Hope ur friends wedding goes smoothly... it’s a great place and tons of fun... just tell them to stay away from the favelas and places they shouldn’t go (dark alleys, bad neighborhoods, etc... aka city life common sense).

I speak 5 languages myself (Dutch, Afrikaans, German, French and English) so I understand the headache it can cause. In Zibanejad's case he speaks those languages because of where he was born or where his parents are from. That makes it a lot easier. Finnish is probably the toughest language in Europe to learn so learning it at an early age definitely helps for Zibanejad
I can't speak towards Russian culture and their educational system because I'm not very familiar (speaking about Buchnevich), but any time I have spent in Europe, I've found a majority of individuals speak conversational English and many speak very fluently. I know in many countries it is taught to students at an early age, and speaking many languages is a point of emphasis in general--also owing to more exposure to foreign cultures and languages given the closer proximity.
Had WNGAGC never wondered why we have such an abundance of posters here from European countries that speak almost perfect English? Or why so many Swedes and Finns come to the NHL and immediately speak more clearly in interviews than Pierre?

Growing up in the Netherlands, I was taught English at age 6, German at age 8 and French and Spanish at age 12. My own language (Dutch) is very insignificant once you leave the country. That's why everyone adepts so easily to using other languages. The same goes for Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, Finns, Belgians etc.
Kakko speaks English (I witnessed this first hand last month in Brno). He will be fine. Anyone saying otherwise has no clue.
