Yep that's a suspension. It's the Mike Richard's special.

The league did a good job getting these particular plays out of the game about 15 years back. You need to keep coming down on these to make sure they don't creep back in.

Some here post with their opinion of this hit by. Jeannot as ‘reckless’, but I don’t see it that way…IMHO it was a clear attempt to clip Boeser up high thus targeting the head…Jeannot appears to be looking right at Boeser as he makes contact.

I understand there’s deals in place between the league and the NHLPA to avoid lengthy suspensions, but to me this was worthy of 5 games, or more.

At some point the NHLPA has to fight for the injured player too,

It just seems to me it's a huge conflict of interest when the victim and offender are both represented by the PA

probably shouldn't be admiring your pass going east-west across the neutral zone but i think 5 and a game is probably the right call

it's a little late, a little high, a little not enough chest contact.. adds up to that
So sick of this admiring your pass bullshit. Most times they are watching the puck to react to where they should go. Passes get muffed or deflected plenty of times.

That's also a blindside shot, really, really dirty.

Do you have a link to evidence of these deals?

The NHLPA has to represent their entire body of players. Even though it's in their best interest it's likely a herculean task to get 750 players to want the NHLPA to negotiate for harsher suspensions on themselves.

Also getting overlooked in this is GM's and owners who don't want their players out with suspensions. Years ago when Shanny was first in the DoPS there were stories about how GM's and owners wanting him to ease up, which he eventually did.

The friggin commissioner of the NHL continues to deny there's even a credible link between playing hockey and CTE. How is the DoPS ever going to take headshots seriously under that leadership?

The league has to know more lawsuits are coming and should be taking steps to actually protect players more. Step one is removing Parros. Step two is severely punishing non-hockey plays like elbows and crosschecks to the head. Step three is punishing dirty hits like this more severely. I agree it should be 5 games. That should be the starting point for this kind of hit.

See above.

The NHLPA has no mechanism for punishing players in these kinds of instances. Also the union is duty bound to represent the offender.
