Curious to see how the DOPS handles this one. That is the type of unnecessary hit that the league claims they are trying to get rid of. This should be more than 10 games, but I don’t expect it will be in the 3-5 range.

probably a game or two tops. The one thing that makes this hit a lot less dangerous is that at least Jeannot didn’t explode into the hit. It looks like it barely glances Boeser. I think Boeser will be fine. There was pretty much no real exploding into the hit more than a glancing blow.
If he exploded, I'd say a suspension would be redundant anyway.

It’s just so weird when you see these hits nowadays. Beyond dangerous and unnecessary with tons of earnings not to do this

It's weird how you seem to purposefully miss the point when you quote people in this thread 🤔
Any specific complaint? Predatory hits aren't illegal. This sport is violent and dangerous. If Jeannot had hurt Boeser through a shoulder to shoulder hit, it wouldn't even be thread worthy.

Want to stop hits like this? Decide the suspension length. Then add a zero at the end.
I’m with you but even if the league were up for it the NHLPA wouldn’t be. Increased suspension lengths for a whole bunch of stuff would be a much more effective deterrent than fighting.

2 pts in 15 games....I think the bigger punishment is if the NHL forced Jeanot to play more minutes rather than suspending him for 3-4 games which might actually make LA a better team.

I was kinda hoping that Jeanot didnt get thrown out of the game last night. It would have made it a brawl type of game and in some way can help bring a team together. Would have been good for the Canucks who have a few new guys on the roster. Team bonding.

Alas we will have to wait until Jan when Jeanot faces the Canucks

The worst part for me is that Jeannot is a talentless hack and losing him doesn't hurt the Kings at all. There should be a team punishment for having bums like this on your roster and letting them run amok on star players.
The punishment should be extending his contract with us by a year with a full NMC. We’d certainly never sign a guy like him again.

Edit: Whilst I really hate the hit my fandom makes me feel I’ve maybe gone to far.

So who is Jeanot fighting when the Canucks and Kings play next. I'd say Miller but thats not really a fair trade off for a superstar vs a plug.

Jeanot - 6'2 220 lbs vs?

Desharnais - 6'7 225lbs
Myers - 6'8 229 lbs
Juulsen- 6'2 - 210lbs
Forbort- 6'4 220 lbs
Joshua - 6'3 210lbs

I also think Canucks arent going to be satisfied with a trade-off of Jeanot for Boeser. Maybe they get rough with the likes of Byfield or Kempe and see if they will eat some knuckles for Jeanot.

If Jeannot had hurt Boeser with a legal hit instead of an illegal hit, it wouldn't be threadworthy. Brilliant stuff. You're very good at making points.

Joshua is the best match but I really don’t want him breaking his hand again against some 4th line plug. Miller, no F-in way. Forbort or Desharnais since Myers fights like an actual giraffe

The way Jeannot fights you could probably just send Garland at him without pads.

Yeah if you're trying ot punish the player, suspend the crap out of the player

if you want the team to feel it, force them to play Jeannot 10+ minutes a night

Sorry, this might be nitpicking but it grinds my gears when people say someone 'picked' or 'targeted' the head. That more than implies that TJ or any NHL player actually intends to drill someone in the head which I simply don't buy.

Am I wrong?

There's gotta be a better term.

People also still use the term 'principal point of contact' even though it was removed from the rulebook more than a decade ago.

That's exactly what makes it illegal Einstein

No, contact with the head does not make a hit illegal. Considering that most of the force of the hit went through Boeser’s body, the head was not the main point of contact. Maybe I am Einstein considering I appear to be the only one who read a rule book around here.

Could you do me a favor? Can you make sure that little kid doesn't fall into Harambe's enclosure? Thanks, much appreciated.
Not sure what you were going for here, but you missed.

Bringing up old garbage BUT Matt Cooke absolutely picked Savard's head on the play that essentially ended Savards career. Should have been on par with the longest suspension ever. Didn't even get a penalty.
