I'm not looking for 20+ goals from Jake in his rookie season, but I am looking for him to push his game and take a few chances. He's got some speed and has a fairly explosive first stride, for a big man.

He needs to work on his passes and anticipation, but, with more experience, I expect him improve in those areas. Power forward types need a little time, so I think we will see the real Jake Neighbours in the 2024-25 season.
whoever said backes light is spot on

That’s not how I would interpret the rule. I understand the NHL disagrees.
The puck carrier really needs to be careful to keep the puck on his stick and under full control, if he decides to make a move having himself precede the puck into The O-Zone, knowing that IF he hesitates when the puck is off his stick, and he has to manipulate his stick again to gain full control again, the refs will decide that he lost control, and so, did NOT have control when his skates and body preceded the puck across the line. He gambled and lost, or just was unable to retain full control. Either way, it's hard to deny that he was offside according to the wording of the rule.
