Really, the Canucks most realistic best result is to remain right where they are and end up with the 8th pick. Flyers do face the Blues, Blue Jackets, and Blackhawks to end the season but also the Bruins, Islanders, and Stars. Small chance they pass the Canucks.

Canucks look to hit a wall. I think we fade for the rest of the season. Hopefully 8th, possibly 9/10th.

Reinbacher or Moore would be great and if we finish 8th we will get 1 of them.

Mitchkov falling would be best case scenario and I could see an opportunity to trade for 4th overall as long as we remain in the top 8.

A good night on the tank scoreboard.....with the Wings winning and the Blues picking up a loser point.

Looking more and more like the Canucks will be locked into the eighth spot heading into the draft lottery. That would leave them with 6 percent odds in the Bedard sweepstakes.

Not very likely, but not totally impossible either. Would be huge if the Canucks could actually move up a few places when the lottery balls drop. Looks like there's a bit of a drop-off after pick #5.

But that just never seems to happen for the Canucks and their cursed lottery luck..

6% Bedard, 6.4% Fantilli ) or whoever a #2. 1 in 8 is not good but better then nothing. 10th is 1/14.

Got a feeling Fantilli might be this year's Byfield or Kakko. Not saying they won't turn out but they might be underwhelming for #2 overall. I'd be picking Carlsson or Smith over him.
You mean the team that drafts Fantilli will completely f*** up his early development?

The last few days have been huge for the tank. For a minute there it was looking like we were going to play ourselves out of the Bedard lottery. Now that seems very unlikely.

It’s been a massive for us to stay in the top nine, ideally top eight, but if we somehow stay in the top nine, we have a chance to really add a dynamic, top end Prospect

Benson or Reinbacher.

I suppose Michkov is "realistic" as well, if teams are scared off buy the Russian Factor + his KHL contract.

Benson won’t happen but Moore or Reinbacher are real possibilities. Michkov would be great as well if he falls, maybe he pulls a Jager and says he will only play for us (not happening)

there is 0 chance Aqua allows for a Michkov selection. He cannot wait 3 years to sell tickets. That is unless, Milstein signs Michkov....

But yeah, Reinbacher all the way.

I agree that Aqua would veto a Michkov selection. But I think it is "realistic" he is available at 8th overall and the Canucks would be extremely foolish to skip on him if that were the case. Of course, they are a foolish organization so...oh well.

Benson I think can slip too. I have him rated 5th, but he's smaller and teams can't help but blow their loads on big kids.

that is a key metric of my prediction unfortunately. Individually of sound mind you, but the way one person holds abnormal sway, you can bet on suboptimal decision making.

We are gradually seeing a shift. with Keller Gaudreau Kaprizov thriving, propects like Cooley, Kasper, Rosen, Savoie picked early. Benson's height is no biggie, his weight is more an issue to me..

From most of the rankings I’ve seen Reinbacher would be a hell of reach at 8th. Seems to be ranked 15-26th and most are 20-26th. But he could be moving up not sure. Have to see final rankings.

He’s creeping up the rankings. I think we’ll see him a lot higher on a lot of final lists.

And with the dearth of quality defensemen in this draft, I think it’s basically a lock that a pro-style, RHD, with decent size, and is producing in a pro league will go top-10.

Pronman at The Athletic has him at #7 and Cosentino at Sportsnet has moved him up to #10. Elite Prospects has him at #12. Just to name a few prominent rankings that have him high.

If the Canucks fall out of the top-five in the draft, what are the chances that their first rounder cracks their lineup next season? I'd say the chances are 'slim and none'.

Probability is, the guy they pick ends up back in junior or college hockey for at least a couple more seasons. So if Michkov falls to them, then he's a 'no brainer' pick. They can afford to wait, like they did with Podkolzin.

And they certainly don't need their 2023 first rounder in the lineup to sell tickets with Pettersson and Hughes in their primes.

For all the crap Craig button gets, He was right about Virtanen, He was right about Zadina, He was right about Podkolzin (So far), He is not afraid to go against the hay, I don't mind his lists.
