Friedman: Tampa have inquired about Tuch, gunning for a forward.

Herein lies the problem - Buffalo can't afford to trade a player who is here now for even more futures. The youngest team in the league with an increasingly disconnected fan base can't make a deal like this.

I get that Buffalo needs more good players and less futures, but the time to make those trades is in the offseason. Buffalo isn't competing this year, so it would be wise to take advantage of the market and position themselves well to make those trades in the summer.

I am not saying it will or should happen but Tampa has shown that it is willing to ignore whatever “market value” is for a player and instead “overpay” if it is a player they believe can help them.
Well Buffalo isn't interested in futures, Tampa is ready to give up Cirelli and Cernak for Tuch+? I doubt it. There's no point in us trading Tuch until he says he's not re-signing here in a year and a half.

LOL. Sabres need more futures and crap for a bonafide top-six player who loves playing in playing and is highly likely to sign. You want Tuch the price would have to be a bonafide centre with long term team control and a serious RD. Cernak and Cirelli could work.

Excuse me for thinking a team with a .8% chance of making the playoffs would want futures instead of roster players.

We can now confirm Julien BriseBois reads HF Lightning because we all pounded the table for Guentzel and it happened

Julien. Trade Sheary for McDavid next.

Edit: toss in Cirelli for a Draisaitl trade too if they're being difficult

I don’t see Tuch being moved unless Sabres get a better player back in the deal which is highly doubtful. Would hate the idea of moving on from him at this moment and would rinse out any last bit of goodwill Adams and Pegula have with the fanbase. Which is already critically low.

If we are in the same position next year and he doesn’t want to re-sign, then I can see us moving on. But for now it would be so dumb

Sure, but then there's the Necas trade.

So they can take those pieces and not acquire any player worth a damn because they have an NTC.

Cirelli and Cernak might be a fair trade for Cozens AND Tuch, but Tuch alone? A point per game player on a great deal with Selke votes every year in his mid 20s for a guy with fewer goals and only another year left on his deal? I hope you're being sarcastic

Truth be told, I don't see a great deal of fit for a trade here if Buffalo wants NHL/NHL-ready players, but I also think it's strange how many Sabres fans consider this guy untouchable (untuchable?) while they have a terrific 23 year old every bit as good as Tuch with longer team control at a solid price publicly on the block in Cozens.

Tuch's deal is up next year. Even if he likes Buffalo a lot, it's hard to picture him staying unless they make some sort of serious strides next season, which just doesn't seem feasible to bet on since Tampa, Toronto, and Florida aren't going anywhere and Ottawa, Montreal, and Detroit are all on the come up.

I also don't see "alienating the fanbase" as a legitimate reason they're going to hang on to Tuch. Buffalo has traded pretty much all of the big name guys who have played for them in the last ten years other than Thompson and Dahlin.

I also don't think the "within the division" thing even applies here. The Sabres didn't think twice about shipping Hall to Boston or Montour and Reinhart to Florida.

I get it, Tuch is an awesome player and a strong voice in the room, but what does that get Buffalo for the next two years? It's not like he's filling the seats on his own now, and it's not like he's leading them to the playoffs. Why wouldn't they get something for him while they can?

I mean, on June 29th Elliotte said that we were the favorites for Guentzel, and he signed on July 1. The Tuch news was in 32 thoughts on the 6th, so Tuch will need accommodations in Tampa by Saturday night.

I don't think its that simple. Guentzel was on a time crunch because he was a UFA. The Sabres would have to be crazy to part with Tuch, nevermind trading him to a divisional team. I think we asked and the Sabres front office leaked it to see if someone will ask and create an arms race or drive up Tampa's offer

You're the type of fan that makes a whole fan base look bad.
The inverse of the trade he suggested would be Byram, Cozens, and a first for Nick Paul or Cozens and Tage Thompson for Nick Paul loooooool

Tuchs such a beauty.

He actually wants to be in Buffalo too. Hard to imagine they move him.

I bet half their roster secretly wishes they
Would get traded.

Omg, we are not talking about Gretzky here. Ask any casual hockey fan who is Tuch and nobody knows the guy. He is an average NHL-er, stop this nonsense please. For the right price he is going to be traded faster than Lightning (pun intended)

To the franchise he's far more important than to the NHL as a whole.

And Tampa doesn't have the type of pieces Buffalo would want in return. I don't see any way a deal comes together between these 2 teams for Tuch.
Certainly agreed when you take NTCs into consideration.

But if he would waive to come here (not gonna happen, but still).....I'd absolutely do something around Cernak for Tuch. It's a moot point though, since Cernak isn't waiving and Tampa has ZERO reason whatsoever to trade Cernak.
