Interesting how Gallant admitted he thinks this team has more talent than the Vegas finals team he coached.

True, but you don't always seeing guys being frank like that..

Goodrow should be able to give us all the deets on Tampa. How they think and their tendencies... Their 'recipe for success' essentially... It's not the be all end all but it could be a slight advantage

People are really downplaying what the Rangers did to Pittsburgh.

Tampa is great. They're the real test. But the Penguins core not too long ago won back to back Cups and won a 3rd a little while before that.

Crosby, Malkin, and Letang are HOF players. Guentzel and Rust would be top players on most teams in the league.

On the other hand, McD has nothing. This is not the same team as those he was part of

OoOo another team with one tough guy.

We're gonna go at them so hard, another softer team with no answer to our GROUP of beasts.

Not a tough guy per se, but Perry is gonna be a pest for our Dmen. He's gonna be all up in Igor's kitchen. He's good at those accidental on purpose injuries.

That being said, every game from here on out, is just gravy for our kids and future development.

I think "playing with house money" kind of downplays the opportunity a bit though. Any time you make it to the conference finals, shit becomes real and a Stanley Cup isn't *that* far away

It'd honestly be a bit disappointing if they didn't beat Tampa and get a chance at the Cup, even if it perhaps isn't reasonable to feel that way. The Cup is so hard to win that getting to the conference finals shifts the focus from "good learning experience" to "shit, this is a golden opportunity, win a cup!" The chance is there, and it's a huge hard hill to climb still, but it's there.

It absolutely is a legit run. But I look and don't have any expectations now whereas I definitely had some expectations in the last two series.

Does Tampa have a weakness? Penalty Kill, Defense, even the forth line? I haven't watched enough of them this year.
I don't think Tampa is as fast as the Canes to be honest, and I think our chances of forecheck pressure are higher than vs Carolina. Pressure their D into mistakes, it can be done. Guys like Ruutta, Cernak and Sergachev. They roll four lines. Their forwards are penalty prone, even their top players.

Need to take game 1.

We’re buzzing and they’re coming off a long layoff. I don’t like our chances if we don’t take care of business.

Tampa won’t let us hang around if we give games away

Everything everyone is saying about Tampa they said about Carolina.

There was no way the Rangers could come back and win against Pittsburgh. No way they'd come back and beat Carolina. Rangers lost the Carolina series before it started. A lot of people had the Rangers playing golf before the Pittsburgh series.

The first half of the season narrative still spews from a handful of the pundits' mouths. "Rangers are all Shesterkin and PP". Shows how much they actually watch the sport they cover.

"The regular season doesn't matter. Tampa is a different team than they were against the Rangers in the regular season."

The Rangers are a completely different team as well. The Rangers didn't have Copp, Motte, or Braun the last time they played eachother. The kid line. Rangers were 2nd in the league in GA. Carolina was number one. Rangers, unlike Carolina, also have a handful of elite players.

The Lightning are the best team in the league, back-to-back defending Champs. Until someone knocks them out, they'll remain the best. But the Rangers stack up well with them. There's a reason the Rangers finished pretty much dead even with them in the regular season. There's a reason TOR and FLA were knocked out. They were all offense and no defense. The Rangers will be the toughest defensive team the Lightning could face in these playoffs.

"The Lightning know how to win, they're resilient, they find ways to win, they can play any game".

Sounds like the Rangers, who have done exactly that for 14 games in these playoffs and all season.

I'm not expecting a win. But I have faith in this team, they've given me a reason for that. The cliche tag line is actually real with this team. They haven't quit. The last Rangers team to show this kind of resilience was the 2014 team. This is a better team.

Let's give the boys a chance.

100% not worried about either one of those guys. Troubs has been averaging one concussion doled out per series. + Lindgren + Reavo. Toughness will be a matchup we win in my eyes.

No.

I guess their 4th line is slow as balls but they're pretty heavy and Maroon and Perry are still pretty good players. Their 5-7 guys are iffy but so are ours and everyones really.

Not having Point is a big hole but they gave zero f***s against Florida and completely took away everything they do well.

Vasi is excellent but if he has a bad tendency its to drop early and his glove hand gets pretty lazy. Of course that requires your players to actually elevate the puck and hit a spot, but it'll be there.

I didn't think they collectively played all that well against Toronto (though game 7 was a MASTERCLASS on how to defend a lead, one I'd rather not find our guys taking too often) but then again maybe that was more Toronto than it was them. I said it when it happened, this Leafs loss was way different than the ones in years past.

They looked more like the team that won the last 2 years in the next round.
