Two or three years ago I wrote that this was the year the stars were aligned for this team. The older players in their prime, and most of the young ones still on ELC. Still confused why Gorton and Davidson did not see that and were willing to waste another season with Quinn as coach.

I'm quoting you but this isn't directed at you.

They played way less games in the regular season last year and the year before. 56 games in 20-21 and 70 games in 19-20. In 19-20 there was also a few months gap from the last regular season game to the bubble play-in. That's a big amount of time off and rest.

They had benefits/advantages that no other team in the modern era had except for the Devils in 95 with a short season.

Ironically the Rangers 94 Cup, it was the longest regular season in NHL history with 84 games.

Tampa had to play the least amount of games of any repeat champion in modern times. They also had a bye for the play-in round in 19-20.

I haven't seen this many excuses for a Champion, ever. I'm on the verge of discrediting anything they won because all they had was advantages that no other team had since 1995.
Everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten their cap circumvention as well. It’s crazy how quickly these narratives turn.

Miller was a monster tonight
He was Miller. He was an absolute monster but he also made several very bad plays. The good thing is that the bad plays, several d and neutral zone turnovers, we’re made due to overconfidence. The kid is feeling it, is not afraid to make plays, and he’s not the only one on the team in this situation right now. It’s the reason why the kid line looks so good all of a sudden. You cannot be afraid to make plays in this league.

wish we could circumvent the cap somehow

Yeah I think last night the good play and ability to control the ice worked in Millers favor and covered up the mistakes. Game 1 I thought he had too many mistakes from aggressiveness
Seems like he has changed to take advantage of the extra ice they’re getting versus Tampa compared to Carolina

I think a lot of our posts are edgy and defensive because it feels like us against the world. Fans of other teams are irrelevant. They're mostly bitter twats drowning in their own tears.

It's mostly so-called "experts" and "analysts" that irritate me. Always shitting on us and giving us no respect. It's always about finding excuses for everyone else and constantly shifting narratives. No wonder we're talking shit after going up 2-0 when every time no one ever gives us a chance.

So we end up (or already are) a hated fan-base. Whatever. Just got to keep finding ways to win. This team has a lot of heart and this season has been a hell of an enjoyable ride. Way better than even our trip to the Finals against the Kings.

just hope we don't end up losing to a better team in the finals

I really dont care what anyone says. To start the season I wasn't sure the Rangers would make the playoffs, and if they did, I thought it would be as the 8th seed. As a big fan of Krieder's since before he was drafted, I had totally given up on the idea that he would ever reach his ceiling well before this season.

The biggest debate in Rangers land for the past three years has been just how big of a bust Kaapo Kakko was, and whether Lafrienere would ever be more than an OK second or third liner.

Annnnddd.. we're two games away from the finals. What is happening right now?

lol delusional and bitter Pens fans are lamenting blowing their series against us, "we could have won the cup this year!". No, they would have gotten creamed by Carolina, they are such a mid team. Rangers played some of the worst hockey imaginable against Pittsburgh due to their inexperience, and still won because we're a better team flat out. They'll die mad.

This is why I say put an asterisk on their cup wins.

Penguins were dangerous but their serious lack of depth would have bit them in the ass eventually. Can't rely on two players to carry you the entire way

They were a Vasi and Kucherov over the cap. That's absurd.

I still do not understand how this has not been addressed. I guess they will wait until we use it to our benefit then EVERYONE will have meltdowns about it.

Some takeaways from the Penguins board:

1. Rangers have been getting all the calls in their favor for the entirety of this play-offs. And are petulant when just very sporadically there is a call here and there that goes against them.

2. Ray Ferraro, based on his game commentary, loves the Rangers so much he wants to have intercourse with the entire team at once.

Ani interesting perspective to say the least...

The Pens had more 5 on 3s on the Rangers in one series than the Rangers probably had against them all regular season. They should stick to complaining about backup goalies and the "goon" Trouba.

somebody did their homework on this Tampa team. They're slow as f***. They lost a ton of speed with Coleman and Gourde leaving and having no Point. Their D isn't fast either. Just overall a very slow group that relies on keeping the puck forever.

Like the above tweet thread put it the Rangers are doing what they are because they have decided to not play defensively and are forcing Tampa into a track meet. The Rangers have the horses at F and at D to do this. I think we always discussed "lets take more chances cause we have Hank" way back when but it was irrelevant because we did not have the forward and especially did not have the D talent to make that work. Well, we do now lol

Shoutout to @duhmetreE for coining "they trained with weights on" against Pitts and Carolina. Someone on twitter pointed out that the Rangers learned a valuable lesson against Carolina that every controlled entry needs to count. You don't know when you'll get another one. The Rangers are pushing all their chips in on every entry and its paying dividends.

Part of what makes the kid line so f***ing effective is that they're so chaotic. They switch positions all over the ice, they can all pass, they can all shoot, they play just careful enough that the D can activate (which, IMO, the other lines don't do enough), they're all uncanny good at keeping pucks in, and they all work very hard. They made Kakko's goal happen because they kept swapping spots and Tampa nearly gave up trying to defend them. Chytil somehow ends up on the right point and feeds Fox who mesmerizes Hedman and Rutta. They are still not getting enough minutes. Even when we went into a turtle, Lafreniere was still trying to score. I think especially if this keeps going they have to play more.

Fox is unbelievable. I have no words. He's simply spectacular at both ends of the ice.

KAM made some errors but had a great game otherwise. More than ok with those errors because he's playing with confidence. Let it rock kid.

Easily Copp's worst game of the playoffs and Strome was right there with him in sucking eggs. Panarin had a lot of jump that went to waste cause those two were just not paying attention.

Gotta do something about the PP though. Mika has been completely covered, gotta get Panarin to get some shots through. The middle of the ice is still exceptionally well defended by Tampa.

Just win one in Tampa. We go this boys.

Let Foxy play the entire PP. Trouba aint it as the QB.

They need micro adjustments going into game 3.

I'd look to replace Strome in the bumper on PP1 if they are taking away the Mika one timer. Have Mika or Kreider rotate into the high slot once possession is established...

They are also giving Panarin A LOT of space on the right. He needs to put the puck on net with Kreider and Strome getting in front of Vasi. Doesn't have to be a hard shot but accurate

They were reading this board too much about how Quinn wasn't to be blamed because of the mediocre roster that featured *checks notes* a Norris trophy winner, a player that scored 6 points in two consecutive games against the Flyers and was on a 60+ goal pace the season before, a Hart trophy caliber player, and the best goalie prospect in the world.

It's clear as day. We've been accustomed to being smothered by Carolina... now we have the puck and it feels like we have an eternity to make a play.

Kids Line + Fox = better than sex

Could it be that the kids get low mins because... they are kids?
Maybe GG doesn't want to wear them out. I have no idea if this would be an issue, if they get gassed if given more play time.

I wanted to but apparently you need to register and they're booked. How is it possible to book a park? Can I still show up? I'd much rather watch the game at Bryan Park.

My cousin got 4 tickets . Not sure if they will allow some first come first serve who didn’t register.
