This may be the year where history doesn’t matter.

Carolina had not lost a home playoff game this year. It didn’t matter.

Carolina/Hartford had not ever lost a Game 7 at home. It didn’t matter.

Tampa had not lost back-to-back playoff games in the past 18 losses going back to 2019. It didn’t matter.

No team this young has won the Cup in 29 years. No team within a captain has won the Cup in 50 years. Maybe those won’t matter either.

I'm feeling delirious. Who are these players?

Chytil has an offensive game? K'Andre the complete Dman? Lafreniere, a playmaker? Kakko scoring a goal? Someone pinch me.

The regular season was great. Record speaks for itself. But this is a totally different team. If this team had played over the regular season, we run away with the division.

Thank Sheisty, Amen.

It's all home vs away thing. Our games 1, 2, 5 against the Canes sucked. Our games 3, 4 in PIT sucked. We have 2 wins on the road. Arguably, game 1 vs. PIT was a win and we have a perfect home record with great play and offense. On the road, it's a different story. I can't recall another playoff run with so much emphasis on home ice. It's all the craze these days.

Looool
But the last game it was just the make up. Almost too much of it.

Oh to dream of an interviewer that actually could extract something interesting regularly from these guys.. She (like misy others) just goes through the motions.

She's the most amateurish reporter I've ever seen on a broadcast.

NEEDS to be addressed:
Kid line: CF 67% Shots 8-2 in their favor!!!! SEVEN minutes on ice together.
Line 2: CF 38% Shots 2-3 against. ELEVEN minutes on ice together.
Line 4: CF 27% Shots 1-6 against. EIGHT minutes on ice together.

I know we can't complain much up 2-0 but as we showed last series, a 2-0 lead means nothing. We need to play our best players more. Shots don't lie. Then when we need to protect a lead, we bench the kids who dominate possession and don't allow shots. I don't get it. Their minutes aren't changing. Kakko had less time on ice than Reaves. Laf was 3rd least on the team.

Some takeaways from the Penguins board:

1. Rangers have been getting all the calls in their favor for the entirety of this play-offs. And are petulant when just very sporadically there is a call here and there that goes against them.

2. Ray Ferraro, based on his game commentary, loves the Rangers so much he wants to have intercourse with the entire team at once.

Ani interesting perspective to say the least...

Without sounding too hopeful - win or lose, this team is playing championship hockey.

Everyone is chipping in and doing their part and they have the right coach and a world class goalie backing them up.

I really think the route they have taken here, facing elimination and surviving, playing a veteran team in Pit, and very well conditioned team in Carolina has prepared them for this.

I also think up to this point the game every other day with no practice in between has gotten them into a groove.

The attention to the sticking to the game plan and remaining present is very apparent, which can be very difficult for younger players. It’s a real joy to see

All the calls? Yeah especially that no goal in the first game against Pens. Well let them bi--h all they want. For years Cindy and crew have gotten all the calls.

I owe an apology to Igor, Mika and I'm not sure who else (as if they give AF LOL) during the Penguins series I gave up on Igor and Mika. They really proved me wrong no matter how this series turns out. I can see these guys do have the heart of champions if not this year, very soon. Sometimes I get temporarily insane seeing this team not play like I expect. I will learn to shut my mouth and have faith in these guys.
Don't worry. Compared to those who wanted to get rid of both Trouba and Kreider before the season (and even during) your actions are mild and reactionary. If anything this season and run proves you need a good mix of veterans and youngsters to win. And BTW IMO both Kreider and Trouba are young veterans,

The Pens can go suck a big banana.
Man Pens fans have always been insufferable bandwagoners - annoying af when they win and nonexistent between the lemieux and crosby eras.

But I never thought they'd be at their most annoying after they lost to our gang of playoff rookies and upstarts in round 1 after their 18th straight playoff appearance.

They're still acting like they won the series -and the cup- because they had two good home games. I look forward to rumors of their franchise moving every season again once Crosby and Malkin are gone.
