All I care about:

1) How did Kahkonen look?
2) Did anybody die?
He looked fine. Didn't give up any stinkers. Maybe you could argue he could have stopped the first goal, but leaving Kouch all alone for a one-timer isn't ideal, or the 4th goal, where the initial shot hit the post, and ricocheted right to Guentzel who put in in the net before Kahkonen could react. He didn't have a shot on the other 2 he was in net for.

Sigh.

I didn’t see the first period, probably a good thing. They said online that the 2nd goal given up by KK was a bad one but I haven’t seen it yet. First goal was just plain carelessness on the part of everyone. Kucherov makes that pass behind the net all the damn time.

Anyway, I don’t know if I’ve ever seen Cale skate so much, he REALLY wanted to win this one. MacKinnon was good but tried way too hard to force that center feed. As Liles said, he and some others just need to rip a few one-timers. Make them block shots and work for it.

Mikko doing his best Michael Porter impression…hit the goddamned net, bro.

I thought the scrubs did fine. Wagner was surprisingly effective physically. And the call on Stienburg was horseshit. Call a penalty if you must but a f***ing major!? The Wagner hit on McDonagh was way worse. Hope that doesn’t deter the kid, he was good tonight.

Anyway not much else to say. Played well given the circumstances, just couldn’t overcome a really bad start.

If not for those two Kylington goals, that's a 2-2 hockey game at the end of the third. I don't think I've seen a worse player on the Avs in the last 10 years, he is absolutely abominable. Waive him and call up Polin or Pavel, please please please.
I’d be good with both him and de Haan being launched to Mars tomorrow.

I don't understand why CDH seems to have a safe roster spot over Ludvig. I thought he played OK in the couple games he got. He's a really smooth skater and has decent instincts, I think there's a good chance we could make something out of him like we did with Englund.

Maybe the fancy stats showed something different, or Bednar didn't like his system play, but he definitely has something over de Haan to my eyes.

I dunno, I really don’t know how good Ludvig’s puck still is, I know it can’t be good but no way is it Brad Stuart-level bad. I get that de Haan has decent puck skill and a not-terrible shot but I just don’t see how that makes up for his continual horrid defensive play.

So watching the highlights:

1) Parker Kelly standing in front of the net taking absolutely nobody as Kucherov comes in late.
2) Oliver Kylington watching mesmerized as Kucherov takes the puck behind the net rather than picking up Guentzel in front. Fantastic stuff.
3) A 3-on-1 tic-tac-toe where Kahkonen had absolutely no chance in hell
4) A point blank shot off the post and right to Guentzel. Not only does Calvin De Haan allow Point to take a slot shot uncontested, he also stands around as the puck goes right to Guentzel's stick and is nowhere near him to stop anything from happening.

The audacity of Bednar to say "after the 4 goals he was good." He stood no chance tonight. God the Avs iced SO many stupid ass braindead low IQ players tonight.

If by some miracle we are able to convert Moose into a durable top 6 and blue chip goalie prospect…I’d be so happy
Agree.. except make sure it's to an Eastern Conference team.

Exactly my perspective.

You dress clowns and put them in the line up, you end up watching a clown show.

Kucherov heard all of Louis Armstrongs 'We have all the time in the world' in his head standing in the slot on that first goal.

Top guys had some push and I'm happy for the Makar points, but the injuries have beat us to death.

Rough start for Kähkönen, couldn't have put him in a tougher spot though.

Bednar also said, he might want the first one back but that he had no chance on the final three and at the end even said he can't fault him for any of the goals against tonight.

Don't allow one bite out of a longer comment get your gander. Especially since I'd say what you were referring to is taking that line extremely out of context in which it was said.

You nailed it. Audacity being a comprehensive take.

Better than my knee jerk reaction which was, is.. damned disgusting cheap shot by beds.

He held this style periodically enough until tapering down on this tendency into '22 when things were flowing better. Not gonna like this style if he reverts...

I just don't see anything redeeming in his shot. It's kind of hard, but it always just goes right into the goalie's crest. Slap shots are overrated these days, and I don't think I've seen CDH take an unblocked wrist shot yet. He's an offensive dud, which would be OK if that meant he could defer to Malinski and play good defense, but since he can't I don't know what actual value he brings to that pair.

Remember when the Avs had good pro scouts?
I don’t think this is so much bad scouting as it is the result of diving in the bargain bin. Sometimes you just come up with crap.

Oh I agree, I’m just trying to see why the coaches like him so much more than Ludvig.

Bednar is completely out to lunch. Kovy lost his man on the first goal... Ok forgets to mention that a guy playing in what his 11th NHL game is somehow supposed to be lights out defensively against Kuch one of the 3 best players on the planet, yep of course that's going to end well.

Oh then mentions the dman playing forward who f***s up against, once again Tampa's top line, for an easy tap in.

Here's a f***ing crazy thought, maybe don't ask basic rookies and players playing out of position to match up against some of the best players on planet earth, when you are at home and get the last f***ing change.

I get you are short handed but we were down 1-0 before 29 or 96 even saw the ice, that's just shitty coaching.

This is what journalism is these days. I hate how news outlets use quotations wrong, but at least they posted the actual clip. The 'quote' made it sounds like Bednar was throwing shade at Kahkonen, when in reality he said he had a decent game.
