About an hour and 20 minute car ride from his hometown in LI to the Rock.

That's a pretty generous estimate. Add in traffic cause its LI and you are lucky for it to be 2 hours. Then by train its the same, 1h20m to get to NY Penn, and 20m to get to Newark Penn. 10-20 min waiting in NY Penn to catch a train to Newark Penn.

Tampa Bay has lost 12 of their last 15 games. They've won 3 of 15, and do not look good at all. Their defense is very suspect, and they get pinned in their end for long periods of time. If we cannot pin them in their end for long periods of time then our forecheck is obviously not working to it's extent.

Kinkaid was 2 years younger than me in high school, hoping he gets his first start tonight. Would be pretty sick.

You went to Sachem East?

Also, The Isles suck so bad you can walk up to a ticketbooth at 6:59 and buy a ticket. Is that possible at the Rock? I'm not sure if I'm going to go until a starter is named for you guys.

More or less, usually you can. There's always some scalpers and what not too.

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. You should be able to find good deals online (check the stickied tickets thread) where you can just print out the ticket or pick up at will call. DeBoer is speaking in about 40 minutes so we should know the starter then.

On one of the Devils fan sites on FB someone who knows the Kinkaid family says they have already been told its Moose again tonight, yeah I know its FB and all and take it with a HUGE grain of salt but he did sound genuinely pissed about it.

I'll just go ahead and confirm this. Was told at like 11am.

I was/am hoping the coach changed his mind and announces KK starting tonight.

Crud, if hedbergs in I gotta change my predict the score.

Risky play because if hedberg is bad again, he will get booed out of the arena which isn't exactly great for a fragile confidence.

I just don't get it, this was a perfect time to test the kid, at home against a struggling team, com'on Pete, wtf?

The only thing I can muster for a legit reason is with the team playing so badly down this stretch, he doesn't want to serve up the rookie on a platter to one of the most shot-heavy offenses and have him go back to Albany with an ugly loss hanging around his neck when Marty comes back.

thats... all I got.

Either Marty's close to coming back and they want to try to squeeze one/two more games out of Moose, or they're worried about dissing a team that's already angry about losing five in a row by starting our third-stringer against them.

Those are the only semi-rational explanations I can come up with. Or the other possibility which is Pete feeling bad for Moose after meeting the press last night, and giving him another chance to get his honor back. Maybe the team themselves demanded it because they like Moose too.

I shudder what will happen if it is 0-2 in the first period though, I can't think Moose will have a long leash especially with the home crowd already in a nasty mood.

Well considering that Moose has cost this team like 5 points lately, I don't see how it would hurt to bench him.

Not pleased with this.

The other thought process could be Marty's injury is worse than they are letting on and they want to get Moose's confidence back and think at home against a bad team can do the trick.

It's entirely possible they also don't want Moose going back to the bench with four straight losses and last night's miserable performance around his neck. But yeah it's a gamble because the crowd's going to be in a nasty mood and the team BETTER play well, cause even if Moose gives up two unstoppable shots the crowd'll still be all over him.
