Tage Value >> Cauffield Value
Sorry Habs fans.
Tage is > Caufield, that I agree, but it ain't that huge of a gap
And saying that Tage is > Suzuki is straight up madness
Tage Value >> Cauffield Value
Sorry Habs fans.
You mean the same Tage that has double his goal output and 2 less goals than Petey has in assists in 5 less games this year?
Nothing to be sorry about. You are 100% correct. I’d take Tage over CC every day of the week. It’s not close.Tage Value >> Cauffield Value

It's not but whatever.Tage is > Caufield, that I agree, but it ain't that huge of a gap

The giant f***up was giving away two players who went on to be superstars and led their teams to cups.Do you have ANY idea what you are talking about??? The giant f*** up by Kevyn was counting almost 100% on kids and refusing to get vets because he didn't want to "block their path" because he a ridiculous incompetent clown.
Wrong.Nothing to be sorry about. You are 100% correct. I’d take Tage over CC every day of the week. It’s not close.
The current Sabres with Eichel and Reinhart minus Tuch, Krebs and Kulich would be a strong team. We also received Devon Levi and pick 16 (Noah Ostlund). Kulich was pick 30 that we received in the Eichel trade. Two real bad trades. The giant f***up was giving away to players who went on to be superstars and led their teams to cups.
As I said... go get vets. I'm all for it. But don't give up key players to do it. Don't try for shortcuts. You can get vets to fill in your lineup but that doesn't mean you should abandon a rebuild.

I forgot Greenway. The picks we received turned into Oslund and Kulich.Kulich and Levi for Reinhart
Tuch, Krebs, ostlund and greenway for Eichel
More of a winger in style, but plays in the centre. Is Thompson more of a center or winger?

Honestly, I don’t know, but maybe yes, but we don’t have that luxury, we don’t have 2C, Thompson is our 1C and it’s not even a center, it’s a complete mess. Our coach after one of the games said that if Thompson and Cozens don't want to play defense, then they're not centers and he'll send them to the wing, he did that with Cozens, then after some time he moved him back to center, but basically it didn't help.I know Buffalo is hurting for centers, but if they had other options, would Thompson be best on the wing?

That's not what I am asking. I am not asking if there are other centers better than Thompson, I am asking if he would be best playing on the wing. Not a particularly realistic question. I can only think of one team in the NHL (offhand) that has 2 centers better than Thompson. He’d play center anywhere other than Edmonton. And maybe even in Edmonton since they like to put Drai on McDavid’s wing.
He turned from a peripheral player into what he is now when he was put at center. So there's that. That's not what I am asking. I am not asking if there are other centers better than Thompson, I am asking if he would be best playing on the wing.
For example, not many centers were better than Stamkos 6 years ago. We moved him to the wing because that is what he was best suited for.

If you're asking if he is proper center in the traditional fashion, then the answer is no.That's not what I am asking. I am not asking if there are other centers better than Thompson, I am asking if he would be best playing on the wing.

All a moot point because there’s really no justification for Buffalo to entertain anything short of a massive overpayment for Tage.Wrong.
CC has outproduced Thompson so far in their respective careers. Higher goals, assists and points per game. Take Thompson over CC? No argument. Big center, in his prime... great player. He's more valuable than the small winger.
Not close? Dead wrong.
And again, we're not looking at things in a vaccuum here. This isn't a question of who should be on this year's Team USA team. The question was trading. And no, it doesn't make sense for Montreal to deal CC for Thompson. Certainly not CC +++ as you said earlier. That would be insanity. He's three years younger, coming into his prime and the Canadiens are nowhere near a 'win it now' team. It would make absolutely no sense whatsoever.
It's rough having teams try to poach your good players for a collection of lesser pieces with no consideration for your team's situation and needs. I feel for you Buffalo fans.
Like I get why people would try this with Cozens. He's underperforming, his contract is pretty risky. Maybe you can buy low and convince the Sabres to cut their losses. Thompson though? They're not going to accept the trade unless it's crazy.
Habs fans, start your proposals with Suzuki and a top 3 protected first, then add another asset you consider untouchable, then maybe, just maybe, you'll get the attention of Sabres fans.
As I said... I wouldn't trade Tage. All a moot point because there’s really no justification for Buffalo to entertain anything short of a massive overpayment for Tage.
