Value of: Tage Thompson to Utah

This is a textbook example of what happens when everyone sees your franchise as nothing more than prey to be feasted upon.

What kind of trade would not look predatory to Buffalo? Basically just deals where they trade picks and prospects for roster players? I think they will have plenty of opportunities to make those trades this offseason

So we want this good players but we don't want to give up anything all that worthwhile.

Buffalo is not rebuilding and selling off good players for futures.

Thompson and dahlin are basically unavailable.
The first sentence is completely unnecessary. (And grammatically incorrect) If you think the 4th overall pick as a starting point is “anything all that worthwhile” then I don’t know what to tell you.

You may as well bow out of this thread because your reading comprehension failed you. Summer Rose’s OP was a simple inquiry into Tage Thompsons availability. She doesn’t even state what she’s willing to give up. She states the 4th overall pick is in play, but then immediately admits that it’s not enough. Then states she doesn’t know what Buffalo would be looking for in a way that is open for responses.

So here's how it is. Tage is not currently available.

However, once the Sabres are out of a playoff spot by Thanksgiving, and he, Dahlin and Tuch all ask for trades because they are sick of losing, then he'll be available.

I imagine there would be quite a bidding war for Tage. A guy with 50 goal potential that only makes $7mil is unheard of unless they are on an entry level deal. He's locked up for long time. A 50 goal guy that any team can fit into their budget.

So your 4th will be gone by then so you'll have to offer something more substantial.

They moved Cozens because having him and Tate was redundant. They both want to be the trigger man on the left side of the powerplay. They aren't going to move Tage now, especially since any trade would effectively make them worse and that's not their goal
They moved Cozens because he has the hockey IQ of a potato and is a negative on the ice. Tage has nothing to do with why we moved him.

There's Zach Hyman

Oh, is “4th overall is in play” for one of the best players in the league? “Presumably we’d have to add” Lol. Ya no crap? Like you’re not sure if that equals the value there..

You’d be adding significant pieces to that pick to get Tage frickin Thompson.

I mean we were just gonna politely decline but I'm sure this was all of our thoughts lol

If Tage were available he'd be worth a lot more than 4th in this years draft.

He's a 40+ goal scorer and he's on an absolute steal of a contract.

In my own defense, my intention by posting this thread was just to make an inquiry about Tage Thompson's availability. @sabremike if you took it that way, that's not how I meant it, and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

The answer seems to be that he's unavailable and that's a reasonable response. A hypothetical phone call along the same lines would be something like this:

Bill Armstrong: "Hey, what's up? I was just wondering if Tage Thompson is available, and if so, what it would take. Our 4th overall pick is on the table."
Kevyn Adams: "Sorry, we're not really looking to trade him right now."
Bill Armstrong: "Okay, no worries, thanks. Have a nice day!"
Come on, I'm not coming here asking about the availability of Logan Cooley.
You could offer Cooley and the 4OA. I think you'll still get a lot of people saying no.
