Klavs Veinbergs scores, but #10 Colorado College falls to UNO in the NCHC tournament. They now await their fate for the NCAA tournament. If this is it though, Veinbergs finishes with 4 goals, 10 points in 19 games in his freshmen year after rehabbing and missing the first half of the season.

Warren Clark and St. Cloud advance. They will play McKade Webster and Denver in the Semifinals

Colorado College is #14 in the pairwise rankings. A potentially precarious placement.

It's basically a coin flip right now.

AHL transactions are showing Syracuse as signing F Kevin Lombardi from Sacred Heart and assigning him to Orlando.

This is an extremely ECHL signing. A 25-year-old in Atlantic Hockey. Similar college production to Austin Magera.

Lombardi looked pretty good against Florida last night.

The first thing I noticed is that for a big guy, he's got some speed.

How likely is it we are signing Dukes after the college season ends?
Just depends on Duke's mentality/mindset. If he wants guaranteed NHL games to end the season, not sure the Lightning can/will accommodate that. If he is just fine starting in the A, then it's pretty likely he signs.

How much does he want to be in Tampa? That's the question that we will find out. Don't want another Guttman/Walker situation.

The only team that can him NHL games before the 25-26 season is Tampa, unless they trade his rights. I wouldn't guarantee him any games to get him to sign because we don't have a spot for him. The 23 man roster is full so unless we get a couple of injuries there's no openings. Now he can get pro games in the A and be closer to the NHL by signing cause he probably gets a look next season.

His stock isn't up enough to get a 2nd round pick and it's hard to see him even getting a 3rd. So value wise it's probably best to hold onto him as long as we can trying to sign him. I wouldn't sell him low,5th or 6th this year, and just hold another year. If his value goes up then someone might offer a better pick if not then let him walk like Guttman and Walker.

Difference is he's way better than Guttman and Walker

Based on?

Through their junior season Duke is producing at a 0.78ppg pace, Guttman was at 0.77 and Walker 0.80. Walker and Guttman both played center as well which requires more responsibilities. Walker had a down senior season while Guttman was over ppg and lead Denver to the NCAA title. I'm not saying Duke isn't good but I don't think he's done anything to be considered way better.

Honestly it's hard to say. I don't know if Duke has ever said he's looking to leave early or go all 4 years. There are a couple different things to weigh. One is Michigan has a very good chance to win a Big Ten title and then put themselves in a position for a National championship. Duke has won 2 Big Ten tournaments, he's gone to the World Juniors, but I would imagine a national championship is still a bucket list item. Another question is does he want a senior year to finish his degree? He's studying sport management in UM's School of Kinesiology, which is ranked one of the best in the country. How important is the degree to his family as well? And lastly, does he feel ready? That's a different question for each individual. Ross Colton left Vermont after 2 years, and then made the NHL 2 years later. Some guys used all their eligibility and still couldn't find their footing in the AHL. I think most guys go the NCAA route knowing they need time to develop. As far him signing with another team, I'm not really worried about that. Not that it couldn't happen, but what happened with Guttman and Walker is just a strange and rare thing.

He's been a first team all-star for OUA East, and most sportsmanlike both this season and last.

I had posted McGill's last two games in the NHL thread.

Orlando has signed Sacred Heart leading scorer TJ Walsh.

So Orlando now has two of the Pios top scorers.

Sr. John Jaworski, you are on the clock.

I’ve been watching the BC-BU game. BC leads 3-1 after 2 periods. Powell has been on the ice for all 3 BC goals and has assisted in 2 of them. He hasn’t really been as noticeable as you’d think though. Not necessarily a bad thing. His skating is still the thing that stands out. To me Harvey has flashed a little more imo trying to make some offensive plays but BC has really played the Celebrini line hard taking away time and space. Haven’t really seen Lane Hutson making plays either yet so BU needs their top guys to step up if they want back in this

BC wins the Hockey East Tournament. Powell makes the all tournament team with Lane Hutson as the 2 defenders

Powell was on the ice for all 5 BC goals before the 6th one which was an empty netter. Didn't really have do too much. Just get the puck to that crazy freshman trio of Leonard, Smith, Perreault and let them do their thing. Announcers said it right that even when BC isn't at their best, they're still a really tough team to beat because of that line. Big part of this game was Celebrini was essentially shutdown. He was the #1 target, and BC got to him every chance they could. Opened up a little space earlier in the game for Harvey, but with Celebrini taken care of there wasn't really a play to be made.

There's still big questions about Powell's NHL potential. He's a 5'11 guy and couldn't really move anybody in front of his net. That's gonna be a problem when he turns pro. Not really a penalty killer, a shot blocker, not really a PP specialist, doesn't have the cannon from the point. But there is something to be said for playing BU, one of the top teams in college hockey, and not breaking a sweat. What does help Powell is you don't have to have the Lightning's future rest on his shoulders with Lilleberg, Carlile, and Crozier all making it into NHL games this year.

Schmidt's 2023-24 totals: 8 goals, 32 points in 47 games / 28 points in 33 games with Kingston

Gauthier finishes with 36 goals (top 10 in the Q) + 35 assists = 71 points.

#1 Drummondville will play #8 Saint John in the first round the playoffs

Roelens finishes with 30 goals + 44 assists = 74 points

#7 Acadie-Bathurst will play #2 Halifax next in the first round.

Duke with an assist to go along with his goal earlier

Howard's assist

Howard's year so far:

[x] World Junior Championship Gold
[x] Big Ten Regular Season Champion

still room to add even more

After Championship Saturday, we know the 16 teams who will make the NCAA national tournament. We don't know exactly how they'll be grouped.

Colorado College (Veinbergs) didn't make the cut.
