Really really really impressed by Slafkovsky given the guy is 16. Definitely a first rounder, most likely top 10.

Your hate for him is kinda overboard....

We lost because of him. For multiple reasons. It's as simple as that. His 3rd period was beyond horrible. Also, I never liked him. I'm pretty happy with the roster but he's the one guy I'd have cut. Landolt would have been way more solid. Has significant pro experience. He wouldn't have made such a mistake.

Looks like the Swiss posters aren't too happy

With the exception of one player who is the reason why we lost and the ridiculously dumb penalties, I am. We just don't have the talent to create dozens of grade a chances. And the Slovak goalie was just stopping everything he had to and a few grade a chances on top of it. Also didn't give up any juicy rebounds or anything else. Not much to complain about.

Even though Slovakia is the youngest team on average, they are a team of giants. What the f*** do they feed those kids?

They didn't play all that big though. May be because they're young but I certainly expected more physicality looking at their size. They've yet to grow into their big bodies.

Yeah our chances to make the knockout stage are very slim now. This isnt really a team that can pull an upset againt a top nation. Lots of very bland players on the roster. Even if you ignore the top prospects past rosters always had a handful of guys with at least one good skill on the roster wich could be speed, grit, scoring touch etc. This year, outside Knak and maybe Meier there is just not enough talent there...

Important to remember that this may be the highlight of that young mans career. To bad he didn’t get a crowd... you know the Canadian fans would’ve given him a great reaction. One of the underrated aspects of this tourney... I still remember being in Saskatoon when Nino was playing for the Swiss the whole crowd was chanting “Nino Nino Nino”... versus the Russians I believe... it was amazing!!
Its too bad Nino hasn't lived up expectations yet. I fault the Islanders for that they don't develop their prospects very well! Wish the Los Angeles Kings could pick him and play him on RW with Kopi-Star!Nino Niederreiter would wonders in LA I believe! Nino needs a change of scenery and a good centre man to play with

Slafkovsky had a strong game, carring quite a lot of play.
Nemec was very good. He did get undressed in the 1st period but man, his awareness was the key that they scored.
Obvious hero today was Latkoczy
The other guy who stood out for me was Elias. He was not flashy but was rock solid in his own end. Will keep an eye on him how he does in the next games.
HM goes to Petrovicky for limiting Turan's ice time to only a few shifts.

Knazko. Somebody should tell him to knock it off with those stupid bodychecks.

I wouldn't be so pessimistic. Normally, with the kind of chances they had, you score at least 3 or 4 goals. It's unlikely that they'll face another goalie like this. Like I said, a simple line change like swapping Hofer and Knak could also do wonders offensively. If Fatton continues to play like this and if they stop taking dumb penalties, this team can beat anyone. If they continue to take those penalties against top teams, this could get ugly though.

Beat Germany clean in regulation and you're right back in it.
