GDT: Switzerland Vs. Slovakia - 12/25 - 2PM ET - TSN/NHLN

Really happy for Slovakia! If the goalie isn't player of the game then I riot.lol Hope this gets them into quarters. Really looking forward to Swiss/German game!
 
The Swiss pressure in the dying minutes was massive but not very creative. They didn't manage to make any specially surprising plays. Latkoczy was stellar in these final minutes, a couple of great saves. Pleasantly surprised by the team Slovakia overall.

I think they were just taking it easy and avoiding injury because the PK was really bad in that exhibition game...

I do recommend they stop taking penalties though.. they are a early candidate to lead the tournament in penalties taken!

Honestly though. Congrats to Slovakia. They started poorly but they got stronger and their goalie was just too good.
Pretty happy with the way the Swiss team played. If they sit Baragano, stop taking those dumb penalties and provide Knak with an actual line then I'm still optimistic.
 
Is it now an upset when Slovakia beats Switzerland, or is Slovakia still the better hockey nation?
 
Important to remember that this may be the highlight of that young mans career. To bad he didn’t get a crowd... you know the Canadian fans would’ve given him a great reaction. One of the underrated aspects of this tourney... I still remember being in Saskatoon when Nino was playing for the Swiss the whole crowd was chanting “Nino Nino Nino”... versus the Russians I believe... it was amazing!!

Negative - Swiss lost, slovaks won :(
Positive - Mikhula stayed pointless, hopefully he continues that way.

Future wishes - Swiss rebounds from this loss. Other three teams steamroll over slovakia and cements them at bottom of this group.

Depends on the tourney and the squad to me. I think the Swiss best on best team is currently better. In this case though, Slovaks have 2 drafted players and looks like a few more on the way. I think they're very even here and would go to game 7 in a 7 game series.

Switzerland has been beating Slovakia for more than half the decade in almost every age category. Slovakia has an average team for their standards this year while Switzerland has an unusually poor roster, so I'd say it was a coin toss at puck drop this year. Slovakia do have the better top players among the two nations this year.
