I’m watching this game at TD Place and feel bad for #23, he’s had a few bad turnovers for the Swiss

Not a few. A lot. So did his defense partner. And it's not like they even tried to engage in physical battles to get those pucks back. Christian Kirsch must be fuming.

Well that sucks. Muggli has been playing way to nonchalant all tournament. But lets face it. You can't expect to win against the Slovaks and only score once. This game was as much lost by not scoring enough as it was by that turnover. The guys looked exactly like the senior team in this one.

If I'm coaching, Bünzli and Muggli are on the next flight home. Bye bye and thanks for nothing. Mistakes can happen but not all game long...especially with the effort level trending towards zero. You can't give away pucks all game long and then do nothing to get them back. They're turnovermachines and puck watchers at the same time.

Switzerland lost because of those two guys and those two only. That's just the reality. They were the weak links. Everybody else played a great game.

Good game. The Swiss are always a tough opponent. They skate and play hard.

Honestly I thought we were going to win even without that turnover as the last 5 minutes before that goal we were pushing the Swiss hard and had a few good looks while they had no shots on the net. But yeah that turnover gave us the game.

Feel bad for Kirsch, he was putting on a clinic.

All right, we need to rest up and be ready for the Czechs on Sunday night.

Tough loss for the Swiss on that mental error by Muggeli. Besides that, Swiss need to generate chances to score on PP instead of fancy passes and waiting for the perfect play to score a goal. Here's hoping that the Swiss rebound against Kazakhstan and Sweden or else it's going to be a long and tough tournament for the Swiss.

On a side note, I noticed Marcel Jenni and his coaching staff are dressed like Jeff Goldblum in those apartments.com commercials, unless they happen to be audition for a spot on that commercial...lol.

Evenly played game, just came down to that one mistake. Switzerland is really relying on Muggli to be Mr. Everything but that's probably too much for him.

Yeah real lack of urgency by Muggli. Not sure if he wanted to overcompensate for last years tournament where he seemed totally overmotivated and jumpy. Cant abandon him now totally that wouldnt be a good signal in my view. But adjust his defense partner and lessen his ice time going forward? Sure.

yes the turnover was horrible and we can discuss muggli/bünzli pairing all night long but if you score twice in 120 minutes of hockey you won't win that many games..... it's the lack of scoring more than anything else and that cannot be argued away

Settle down tough guy, they've been mainstays on the Switzerland 05s for years. Great way to lose the locker room over one bad game, it's not like there are multitudes of better players sitting at home.

There are plenty of better players. Gian Meier for example who dominated the WJC18, then made Frölunda Göteborg this season. Nic Balestra is a very good defenseman but, as the 7th defenseman, barely played in this game.

Everybody has a bad game. My problem is that they had a bad game with the effort lvl trending towards zero. If you're struggling you have to up the intensity and battle, not give in and start puck watching.

You can move kids down the lineup, even scratch them the way it works this year with the rule change, but cutting a player mid-tournament and publicly humiliating a kid like that is not the answer.

This was actually a game they maybe could have won 1-0 if it wasn't for that one horrible defense pairing. Both goals, almost all Slovak chances against that pairing.

Maybe. But if the effort isn't there? The SIHF has pubicly humiliated players for much less than actively throwing away a game at a WJC.

Yeah...if the Swiss stay out of the box then I like their chances. However, if the Swiss take more penalties they probably won't be lucky again to score themselves. Slovakia has more than enough skill to punish Switzerland on the PP. Switzerland has to solve the Bünzli/Muggli pairing as well or they'll bleed more goals.

This is what I wrote ahead of the 3rd period when Switzerland was extremely lucky Slovakia only scored once against Muggli/Bünzli.

Then Jenni goes...

Rhyn: 07:52
Muggli: 07:50
Johnson: 06:41
Schneller: 06:05
Bünzli: 05:39
Sansonnens: 05:35
Balestra: 00:13

...in the 3rd:baghead::baghead::baghead::baghead:

Only Nils Rhyn played 2 seconds more than Muggli.

And no. I'm not a genius because I called what's gonna happen. You have to be a complete grade a moron to not understand what's going on. Muggli/Bünzli were targeted all game long and they didn't even try to put up a fight.

Got to bench Muggli for this. He needs to wake up and deliver: no other junior player was ever given so many chances to play in the NL, got pampered and protected by coach and club. Dirty and cheap crosscheck to players neck in last year’s U20 WC, cocky skating in last U18 WC until he got hammered by CAN D man, weak season with club so far for a 2nd round draft pick but still gets ice time for this. And now: a stupid decision that cost the game, but he is back on ice in the next shift. Do this young guy a favor and stop shoving gifts up his candy a**. Teach him to be accountable instead. You might get a leader instead of only a good player…!
