So it was spitting, they showed the replay, he was clearly spitting on ice. That's a ridiculous call, but alright, it wasn't a game changer call unlike the questionable 5minutes early in the game.

Yeah I apologize, it was dumb thing to say. Just heated in the moment
Something tells me I'll be in the same boat in about 2 hours! We're playing the team that beat the Swiss by 7 and desperately need points. Next game will be better!

I'm afraid he needs to work on his spit direction control

Did not watch, but wow. Rule 162 Spitting!

I find spitting at another human deplorable, but reserve judgement here until I can watch the replay.

If you watch the reaction from Siegenthaler he probably spit on his glove

Honestly I feel bad for most of the players on the team... Huge individual mistakes by few useless bums cost us the game. Especially stupid penalties. Suckel's inability to finish in the empty net...who knows, if the Slovakia took the lead everything might've been different. Oh well, whatever. Hopefully the boys will rebound similarly to Swiss after their loss to the Sweden. Congrats to Switzerland.

That definitely wasn't a 7 goal game, Slovakia should have been in front after the first and the second period was close, except the puck went in for Switzerland. The only things Slovakia did wrong that they sometimes tried to be a bit too fancy around the net and lacked killer instinct, plus they took some really stupid penalties, Pospisil obviously, but also the penalty that led to the 2nd goal was an unnecessary hook, as well as the interference on the faceoff. A case of small details with big consequences.

Yeah, it was similar game to Switzerland - Sweden in a lot of ways. Switzerland also didn't deserve to lose 7-0.

slovaks start stronger but breakdown. some bad penalties, some bad refs. for switzerland everything went well scoringwise. score at the end is too high - like the sweden game two days before. well, you see how quickly things change :) game by game ...

Two nonsencial penalty 5+, unnoticed fouls from the Swiss, goal from offside ... gross errors of the referees.

Thanks refs ...

That’s wishful thinking. Doubt there will even be any lineup changes

Wow, whatever happened to Slovakia in this match. Taking penalties took its toll I guess and they probably 'gave up' on this game at some point.

I wonder if playing on empty Arenas is linked to these kind of collapses. It seems once a team goes down and nothing works, rebounding is difficult and without fans giving you that edge...you just sink further. particularly because is international hockey and is very much driven by passion and not money.

Who knows. Happy Switzerland could rebound, they were lucky to get ahead and then took control of the game from the 3-0

That first major penalty took out Pospisil, totally broke apart the 2nd line. Slovaks were the better team the first period, outshooting Swiss 12-4 despite being 7 minutes on PK, missed an open netter and got scored on a lucky one. That sort of led to the collapse. Game evened out in the 2nd period, and while Slovaks missed their chances, Swiss capitalized on their - mostly blue line shots on powerplays. It was game over at this point, third period, the coach decided to bench our best player to get him some rest (Hrivik) and we took some other weird calls, like another 5 minute game major for a spit, where Rosandic was spitting on ice as hockey players often do, but it may have hit a Swiss player. Anyway, it was 5 powerplay goals for Switzerland that played like 20 minutes of powerplay.

I didn't see any strange calls. If you read the rulebook (what you should do) both 5+20 calls were correct. And if you compare the rest it was 4 minor penalties for Switzerland and 5 for Slovakia. There is always a room for interpretation on those but yeah, I mean Andrighetto got one for diving which you can also argue about.

Maybe you watched other game ...

I agree, Sven got one for diving but slovak player had 2 minutes with him ... Slovakia had only one and half minutes powerplay. In other cases It was 4 on 4.

Why similar fouls were not noticed by swiss players?
