One top 6 in 9 drafts, how does that make you feel about this draft confident.

Before the trade deadline, everyone was posting about how the Bruins should get at least 3 maybe even 4 1st picks for Coyle, Carlo, Frederic, Marchand. The reality is we got 1st pick next year, a couple of 2nd picks and a lot of junk.

I wouldn't hire Sweeney to operate an abandoned parking lot, let alone to touch any draft picks. Because, I know he would fill that parking lot up with some random junk in no time.

One of Sweeneys problem was he was trading injured players, Frederic and Marchand and he knew or should have known he could not sign them, make the trade before they get hurt, he never pulls the trigger early, he waits until the last minute almost every deadline.

Fraser Minten and Will Zellers certainly aren't junk...

Sweeney nailed the TDL

When he traded for Rick Nash or Ondrej Kase, both with a concussion history , the 1st pick was included.
So yeah, other GMs will praise Sweeney because if they need to fleece someone, it's good to know where they can find the common idiot.

I like Minton, who was a 2nd round pick for the leafs - the jury is out on Zellers but it's nice to see a potential high end offensive prospect in the system - but the fact is, Zellers was a 3rd round pick for the Avalanche. It's too bad the Beechers, Frederics, Vaakanainens, Senyshyns, Zborils and even Lysell 1st round picks don't provide the same excitement.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sweeney and I think a change is way over-do, and he has had a lot of O'boys what the hells, but this years deadline imo wasn't one of them.

Lets wait and see what Zellers does next year in College and from what Ive seen from Minten, he's going to have a long career in the NHL with a ceiling possibly as high as a 2nd line center, but more than likely a 3rd line center moving forward. Maybe ill be wrong, but if thats junk give-me some-more!

He's made some terrible picks and terrible Free agent signings that sent this team backwards, but this deadline was one of the better things he has done as the Bruins GM imo. He actually does his best work at the deadline, its the the times before and after, where I don't want him making the decisions.

I liked what Sweeney did, except for the Marchand trade, where he gave Brad away because he either misread Brad's asking price or wanted no part of him. I tend to think it was the former more than the latter, which is bad.

Acquiring Mittlestadt was very bad as well, but you weren't getting anything valuable for Coyle.
He certainly misread Marchands asking price. Marchand wanted to get paid, but as a beat 37-year-old, no way do you go that route, I think when he found Marchand's ask, he should have known then, and moved him before he got hurt and you might be right that they should have, and could have gotten more.

Forget the draft day trades

The 33 day retool/tank will be taught in Sports Management classes for years

Marchand coming back / I got 4 people telling me it’s in the bag

The question I have are Bruins fans going to be ok if he brings Sam Bennett with him

It’s out there folks

I don’t care if Hannibal Lecter comes to the Bruins, as long as he helps them win the Stanley Cup at some point.

Okay, maybe Dr. Lecter coming to the Bruins was a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea.

Re the Lebrun report

The problem with firing Sweeney is two fold;

Cam needs to go with him or it wouldn’t be fixing the real problem

And if you were going to fire him, you absolutely should have done it before the TDL, unless you directed him on every trade, and even then you want to fire him asap because now you’re dealing with overhauling your scouting and all the work that’s been done there and continues to be done.

My gut says Sweeney gets a two year extension and is directed by the Jacobs family to turn it around and be back in the playoffs by next year, with an expectation of growth from players we acquire this year that sets them up for more success in his final year. That year will determine whether he stays or goes, and if he goes, both he and Cam are gone

he did very well for coyle, a 2nd round pick and will zellers is a HR return. i looked at mittelstadt
as a necessary evil to get the other assets...and he's movable if you choose that direction too.

as for sweeney, it depends on who you replace him with. getting rid of him could be great,
but maybe the next guy is worse. hard to say without hearing who the replacement is.

Sweeney contract up after next season

If McAvoy & Lindholm are healthy they are going to be good

he will get another 3 year extension

It would be difficult for the next guy to be worse, but it is possible-especially with Neely still there.

If they replace him I’m going laugh my ass off if the next guy doesn’t shit chocolate mousse

It’s a forgone conclusion with Twitter Bruins fans we are getting a huge upgrade that will do everything they want
