Of course it would be less. Just like it's less if a team has a back to back at home or they win an easy one in the 1st game an rest their players in the 3rd. The players also aren't far younger than NHLers, since some players in the tournament are currently NHLers, but yes a 17 year old would recover faster than a 35 year old, but still not fast enough to negate the back to back. Things aren't black and white and didn't imply otherwise.

But to pretend there is no impact is dishonest. Add in the game went to OT and was a very emotional loss, it gets that much worse. They are also playing a well rested team.
We are in agreement then. It just seemed like you didn’t want to acknowledge that the NHL stats you provided needed to be viewed in appropriate context. Your response to 57 did not come across as conceding that the issue wasn’t black and white.

I didn't think that needed to be concerned since it was never stated, but all good.

Hoping for a USA OT win. I'd rather Germany not face Russia in the QF. Feels like the USA are better though. Not by much but I think they'll take this in regulation 4-3.

How will Sweden be tired? They are a bunch of 19 yo's who didn't travel anywhere, and have been sitting around in their hotel rooms, sleeping and being served food. Yeesh!

I think Sweden will come out on fire, and it will be the USA who will be struggling to match their intensity. The ace in the hole for the USA will be their PP, the weakness for Sweden their PK, unless they get it fixed, and fast.

Lol have you played a sport before? A team that played the day before will always be less fresh than a team that's had some rest. That doesn't necessarily mean the rested team will win but fatigue is something that exists. How much it affects you depends but it exists.

It's obviously a factor just as everything else but it feels like most posters are overestimating the impact here. The impact could of course be assessed by comparing results from previous years.

Haven't looked it up but I know Swedens track record against this particular US age group is absolutely horrible. Several blowouts.

7-2 USA. Hope I'm wrong.

Very good that Olausson is playing. Very strange that he was not in the lineup against Russia, he has been great.

I remember one in particular. I think it was a February tournament of the U17 year, and US was playing without Hughes who had already been promoted an age group. It was against some Swedes playing in this tournament. Raymond, Holtz, Soderstrom. I believe some of the others Swedes on the WJC team were on that team, but I'd have to look it up.

That was one of the worst beat-downs I can remember watching in a recent game among two of the big 5 countries. USA must've had 10 goals, and I think they let up towards the end and stopped attacking the net. The Swedes looked so thoroughly outclassed, almost so much so that it wasn't believable they could be outplayed so poorly.

One thing about that game that I remember was how well Raymond played. He was the only Swedish player who I thought left that game with credibility.

Edit: Found the US scoresheet from that game. Boldy had four goals, Zegras four assists, Turcotte three assists, Thrun three assists, Caufield 2G+1A. US had 24 more shots than Sweden. I can't find the Swedish roster for that tournament or scoresheet for that game, but I did find that Wallstedt also played at that tournament. However, it looks as if he didn't play in that game.
