Sweden really shot themselves in the foot with that loss to Finland.

I would've like the memorial cup format where 2 and 3 play an extra game to go against 1

It means theres no meaningless games.

I like it, but means cutting another 2-3 days into the nhl schedual which means no bueno

Not sure why they didn't have semi finals - 4 vs 1 and 3 vs 2. It would have added a game and all games would have had importance.

Yeah too bad Markström got injured. Gustavsson is uneven in his play.
I was surprised that the coaches didn't start Ullmark against Canada, and even more surprised that they didn't start him against Finland. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Whelp, that sucks for Sweden. Also the US (especially their fans) because if I was coaching the team, I'd mail tonight's game in entirely and avoid injury. Very anti-climatic. They should have had a bronze medal game for 3rd and 4th place to give the teams something to keep playing for.

It's a stat holiday in Canada today. Just one determined at the provincial level, not federal, so everyone except (checking...) Quebec and Newfoundland. For most of us its called Family Day.

Lol no, that makes the round robin extremely pointless. This is fine and sometimes it happens this way. Would've been better to have both final games at the same time but they want maximum eyeballs.

They also didn't want any team to have extra travel before the final. Can't play two games at once at TD Garden.

For sure I can see Sweden still wanting to win this game even if it's meaningless just to finish above Finland in total points - especially after Laine saying Finland is better than Sweden now. They want Finland to finish last over Sweden.

For the US, this game means nothing - so it could be a lopsided game for Sweden.
