I knew Team Sweden would destroy the Czhechs, what a performance, that's what hockey should look like fast tempo action.

Edit: Loved the last goal, textbook screen and textbook laser.

Unfortunately, our best young Czechs need to leave.. nothing good comes out of Czech2.lol

Do you know where Kubicek is? I can't find any info? He was named one of our Top 3 players last year ...

Sitting NHl drafted goalies, not playing our best D... starting to feel like classic Czech politics.lol

Kubicek was just a healthy scratch I suppose. Hope they will let him play against Russia. I would not blame Malik for this disaster. He was not bad at all. Neither Bednar nor Parik would perform any better. This was a complete collapse of the team as a whole. It is hard to understand why they were playing 29 mins of some very good hockey and then 31 mins of a bad joke. But I really think the primary reason is that in their clubs, the coach would sit them after that 3-1 goal, telling them "OK boys, now sit here, watch and learn", and the "experienced veterans who know how to play hockey" would go to action for the rest of the game. Obviously, you are not going to learn how to cope witch such situation when you are sitting on the bench and watching.

I better see Kubicek tomorrow night! Let's hope for a good 40 minutes next game... Baby steps.

Both the Czech Republic and Slovakia seems to be at least one tier below Sweden at producing talent at the junior level. Seems like especially Czech Republic have almost switched place with Sweden in that regard over the past 15-20 years, where Sweden have developed their systems and the Czechs have stagnated. I really hope both the Czechs and the Slovaks is able to turn it around in the coming years because the hockey world needs more competetive nations at the highest level.

Broberg has intriguing skills, Johansson looks good(of course, my team drafted the wrong Johanssons), Bjornfoot is fine, but Soderstrom...he looks like a 28 yo NHL vet out there. Smart, poised, great vision, good feet and strength. Nothing I don't like about him. I think he'll have a long career in the NHL as a top 4 Dman.

Before the game, all swedish hockey experts agreed: -The forward group is the weak link of this team. We have to rely on Holtz and Raymond.
Well, six different forwards scored in the first game, and none of them goes by the name Holtz or Raymond.

53 in a row.

If Sweden can reach 69, we should lose intentionally.

I'm puzzled by the negativity directed at this forward group from SVT etc. I think it's pretty good overall, definitely deep. Center depth is quite poor but there are strong wingers on every line.

Impressed by Gunler and the top two D-pairs came as advertised. Top line has to get going though, preferably with a different center.

its either Sweden win Group B and then choke in the quarterfinals, seem pretty tradition at this point or lose to either USA/Russia and go get the Gold they deserved.

Aside from losing to Switzerland two years ago, they haven't lost a quarterfinal since 2006 (OT loss to Finland). When the guy that scored the GWG in the second to last QF loss they've had has been retired for 3 years, I doubt you could say it's a standard occurence, lol. Of the other 14 tournaments since that point, they've lost 8 in the SF, lost 5 in the finals and won gold once. So choking in the semis seems most likely, if you can truly call it choking when you're losing to either the gold or silver medal winning team. ^^'

Even when the Czech team played well, Sweden kept them mostly to the outside, despite a 3 to 0 power play advantage for the Czechs through 27 minutes. I lost track of how many shots the Czech players had from way out on the left flank, with, what0.01% chance of scoring. They had a couple of dangerous opportunities, to be sure, but they were few and far between all the while everyone on SVT made it out like the Swedes were completely outplayed through 30 minutes. Malik arguably had a great game until the floodgates really opened up (which was a lot due to his teammates giving minimal effort).

I would say it was an even game for the first 30 mins, both teams were playing OK. Then, unfortunately for the Czech team and hockey as such, one team just collapsed and the 3rd period was something almost improper, with one team making an exhibition game of it and the other waiting for the final horn with their heads down.

Well I have to say I expected a bit of a better result for Czechs.
That short handed goal changed the whole game. Just a really odd thing to witness a team almost give up completely after just being down by 2 goals. It was a seriously night and day situation.

Sweden was better team but some bounces went their way.
I wouldn’t count Czechs out completely against USA or Russia. But who knows. I don’t have my hopes too high but I’ll be cheering right to the end anyways.
Excited to have Raska back in the lineup to bring some energy.
Mlejnek needs to keep playing Svozil and Jiricek big minutes. Towards the end of the game I thought Kucerik was playing too much.
Kubicek needs to come in I agree.
Bednar or Parik need to come in. Have nothing to lose at this point

Always happens, "bandwagon truths". Exacerbated in the Social Media Era. Except for Jonas A, none of the SVT crew have the slightest own idea about these players.

I am positively surprised by quite a few guys really finding a home on narrower ice. Costmar, Söderblom among them. Also liked what I saw from Olausson and Gunler. Söderström even better than I expected - can't remember a single missed pass and he controls pace and game flow so smoothly.

We will be called on the center problem. Best 3 centers at home (Ljungman should have been picked) from an already shallow group. Niederbach is a top-end talent, but not a natural center. Yesterday he had difficulties with positioning and became indecisive.

I say it again, especially after last night's game: Separate 10 and 18. Raymond was carrying deadweight last night. And avoid playing Broberg behind him - Broberg's offensive and puck carrying qualities are much better utilised behind other lines 5vs5.

Raymond needs to play with players who have "flow" and confidence. And/Or dig out pucks for him. Test, test, test. Raymond-X-Söderblom. X not being Niederbach or Sundsvik.

I just love Soderstrom so much. The guy is the complete package. So smooth and makes it look effortless. Can't believe so many teams (including my team Nucks) passed on him.

Yeah, he lacks some physical tools and explosiveness but I don't think anyone in this tournament can match his playmaking from the back end. He had about 5 beautiful stretch passes yesterday that turned into breakaways or 2-on-1's.
