Yep. Thought Parayko and Doughty couldn't really match the pace of the game. Though fair enough, they were running five defensemen pretty much the entire night.Colton Parayko looked GREAT out there tonight. I now see what management saw in him.

I believe THAT was the game right there. Also how about Nylander botching that golden chance Bratt gave him right before his buddy scores. Oof.
Goalie made good saves on shots that hit their pads middle of the crease. Damn what a high percentage scoring chance that was. Oh wait it’s OT and that could lead to odd man breaks going the other way? If that was 5v5 I have zero problem with Mack playing like that, but it was clear selfish glory seeking stuffIf Mackinnon does not shoot from there everyone would be saying he is over passing. He backed the D man right in with his speed and has scored from there alot of times.Goalie made a couple nice saves on him.
Morrissey gets criminally underrated because he plays in Winnipeg and not with superstar players. Id say hes actually the second best defenseman Canada has. Makar Toews is obviously the first pairing with their chemistry and Makar being the best defenseman on the planet. But Morrissey gets no respect for how good he is.Parakyo fills a unique role with his skating and having the wingspan of a Boeing (one of the ones that doesn't blow up when landing).
Makar and Toews come attached at the hip and Makar is one of the better skating attacking defenses in the league.
But there's still four other defensive spots. Bouchard should easily be on the team. I don't think he supplants Makar or Parakyo who have a different aspect to their game. But Bouchard is better than anybody else that Canada brought.
Well, he had zero shots going into OT so..Better not say that, then hes being selfish and not passing to McDavid
I thought Stone-Crosby-Mackinnon had some obvious chemistry as well. Two lines going with decent chemistry is pretty good for two days of practice.Honestly IDK, I think that Jarvis-Point-Marchand group was probably the most cohesive line Canada had tonight, the rest of it kind of just looked like really skilled guys doing their own thing.
Well, he had zero shots going into OT so..
I might actually swap Marchant with Stone. Stone was definitely the third wheel on that line. It worked for now. Sid and Mack have good chemistry, Marchant has played with Sid before and shown chemistry. Put the Scotia line together coach!I thought Stone-Crosby-Mackinnon had some obvious chemistry as well. McDavid's line definitely wasn't clicking. He and Marner don't really mesh.

Canada has 8 of the top 40 NHL goal scorers on their roster, the Americans have 5.Yes. They not only are a better team, but they are built to win one game elimination more than Canada. I feel like team Canada with their 2 way and pass first players are more geared towards a 7 game series. The Americans have more and better snipers, game breakers that is more beneficial in this type of format/olympics.
I thought the opposite. Stone and Crosby looked like they were reading off each other pretty well. They play a similar, down-low possession-based game. Mackinnon brings the frenetic energy and dynamic speed to break some plays open.I might actually swap Marchant with Stone. Stone was definitely the third wheel on that line. It worked for now. I think the issue is both guys want/need the puck on their stick to create chances, so when they have to take on a more "support" role (Marner), they're a bit like a fish out of water.I thought Stone-Crosby-Mackinnon had some obvious chemistry as well. He stopped one that nearly got under his arm.The other was pad save.Goalie made good saves on shots that hit their pads middle of the crease. Damn what a high percentage scoring chance that was. Stone when he got into position was fine. Didnt look like he could keep up with Sid and Mack at speed. Marchants line was easily the best 5 on 5 as well. Doubtful any changes are made on those 2 lines. Wouldnt shock me to see Bennett in to crash and bang the yanks though.I thought the opposite. I think that too. They're both the puck-dominant players on their regular clubs. Having Marner be the second fiddle really doesn't mesh with his style.I think the issue is both guys want/need the puck on their stick to create chances, so when they have to take on a more "support" role (Marner), they're a bit like a fish out of water.
I didn't see the same chemistry you and bossram did regarding Crosby and MacKinnon, and there's other media reports about their supposed lack of on-ice chemistry at other camps/practice and training sessions. My ideal is Marchand-Crosby-Stone together on third line duties.I might actually swap Marchant with Stone. Stone was definitely the third wheel on that line. It worked for now. My take was that I thought, of that line, Crosby-Stone were the ones reading off each other well. Part of it was also Sweden waking up and playing some hockey after the 1st. Sweden was lost in the first but I thought they controlled the flow of the game the second and the third. Canada still got some looks in those periods though.Canada was nailing stretch passes for the 1st period until Sweden adapted to it. They only started having problems when Theodore went down. And I dont blame them. 5 guys, only 2 of which are familiar with each other, playing with someone new each shift and sometimes on your off side. Thats difficult.
McDavid ain't shooting the puck this year, it's gotten very frustrating at times. All he wants to do is pass..
