GDT: Sweden vs. Canada | 12 February 2025 | 8:00 p.m. EST, 2:00 a.m. CET, 3:00 a.m. EET

They just need to score first and see if the pressure gets to Canada.

Of course, in 2002, Canada scored right away and then Sweden blew us out of the building.

You're totally right. Scoring first is always a big deal. But way more in a short tournament like this. Get the Canadian roster doubting their goalie or fearing an upset? That could be a huge advantage.

I think Sweden is going to surprise in this tournament. I'm Canadian, but totally supporting team Sweden.

I always had a soft spot for the Swedes because of Mats Sundin.

We are fine with Binnington. He has a cup and steps up on the big stage.
"He's been a middling to below-average goalie for the past 6 seasons, but hey he won a cup before covid" is such a cursory-level analysis you must be part of Team Canada's brain trust.

Tarasenko gonna turn back into a 40 goal scorer again too? Time goes by man. They took the wrong goalies.

Crosby has the knack of not really showing up until the penultimate moment in the tournament and then everyone forgets and/or forgives his middling production up until then.
Seems like somebody was playing Pokémon Go during the 2016 world cup.. Crosby dominated on every shift

No, thats gonna be Finland. Just look at your Ds.
Finland Defense is bad but i still trust them more defensively than Sweden’s Karlsson and Dahlin, these guys were atrocious in World Champs last year. But what is important we have pretty much 5 better Centers than Sweden’s best one currently and they are two-way centers which will help the Defense a lot.

Leafs nation will definitely be watching marner. If he struggles with McDavid, then all his past playoff struggles are going to be brought up again that he's not a big game player.
Based on that, even if he does perform now, he becomes a product of McDavid.

Welcome to the Draisaitl treatment, Marner!

Canada has the forwards sure, but Sweden's defense looks sharp. My man Brodin is always a stud when playing against McDavid.

Goaltending definitely favors Sweden too. Though I am quite biased.

Pokémon Go has about as much importance in hockey as that tournament.

Quick question: What line did McDavid play on for Team Canada?

Answer: Exactly.
It doesnt matter if it was a important tournament for you or not, it was latest of the 3 best on best tournament Sid has played and he was absolutely on fire every shift on that tournament. But if you want to ignore it then do it, interesting that you are on this thread in that case.

There's another guy on this team that was just as dominant as Sid was in that tournament, too.

For the record, I don’t think much of this tournament either.

Doesn’t mean I won’t watch it. I watch the All-Star game too. It’s hockey.

I was rooting for Team Europe because I wanted to see if they would play an anthem if they won.

Bratt-EK-Raymond line will be an X factor in a Swedish upset.
Thats definitely the most balanced line on that team. But i believe they will take lot of defensive minutes against the best lines of team Canada which is going to be difficult

Only supporting Canada as Canadian is not inclusive yeah
