Time for Marner to step up on the big stage. He will have the best player in the world centering him. There will be a lot of eyes on Marner to see how he performs.

Tonight? No it's not lol. Maybe if they were in the finals game.

I'm curious to see how long the lines last. Will they even last through the whole first game?

It will last. Marner is magic. Can't wait to see him and McDavid dishing off each other. Mitch just needs to be ready to shoot when he is in the spot to do so and not be looking to defer to linemates for that like he is bad for when with Auston

I think one line will gel right away and Cooper keeps them together throughout the tournament. But he likely shuffles the other lines by the 2nd game.

MacKinnon and Crosby already have proven chemistry so I think that line stays together until the end but Stone may not stay with them. I could see a guy like Konecy working his way up the lineup.

There’s talk on RDS it might be a partially full building tonight; hopefully that isn’t the case
wouldn't be shocking. The ticket prices were exorbitant and interest is low. Remember sold out and people in seats is different....there will be a lot of resellers that take a massive hit on this tournament I think.

Crosby has the knack of not really showing up until the penultimate moment in the tournament and then everyone forgets and/or forgives his middling production up until then.
Yes. Showing up in big moments is what defines a player.

Leafs nation will definitely be watching marner. If he struggles with McDavid, then all his past playoff struggles are going to be brought up again that he's not a big game player.

Are you kidding? When I was in Hawaii, I never watched more playoff hockey in my life.

The further West you go, the better.
oh yes, the West is much better (I'm in the mountain time zone, 5PM starts and 8PM starts on HNIC is the best...not too early, not too late)

I'm talking more about the fact teams and fans in the East having the majority of their games on at the same time...home or away

Even at the World Championships where we'd have guys like Sean Burke play out of their minds.
I remember, back in the day, that the broadcasters would routinely say 'if every country could have a Canadian goalie, the tournament would be better'. And it was true.. Quebec alone could give each country a good starter in the 80's.

man have times changed.

Sweden has to stay out of the box. Canadas #1PP could be unstoppable if Cooper plays MacKinnon and Makar on the point like Bednar does in Colorado. So they already have the chemistry.

They just need to score first and see if the pressure gets to Canada.

Of course, in 2002, Canada scored right away and then Sweden blew us out of the building.

Good one lol. You guys are hockey mecca by proxy. You are our Melinda Gates.

But seriously, Montreal struggles to fill seats for the WJC and stuff is what I was referring to.
To bad your city can’t support the WJC like Ottawa, your city which is way bigger, has to do a split city. Yet IHHF sets records in Ottawa as a single host city.

No idea why you picked that as your chirp, which backfired 😂

I'm so glad Crosby was still able to make it. He will do a good job settling the boys. Canada could be a bit nervous right at puck drop (hopefully not) and with even more pressure playing on home soil.

The first goal will be huge.
