OK, Sweden delivered a disappointing performance but one must as well give due credit to Denmark. This group is really going to be tough as there are maybe even 6 serious contenders for the 4 QF spots. Nicklas Jensen has been showing constantly in the KHL that he is a great forward and he confirmed that today.

I'm starting to worry that we might not even qualify for the quaterfinals. Russia and Czech Republic are for sure better teams than us and Switzerland is not far behind. And now we lose to Denmark. Could very well be that Russia, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Denmark or Slovakia finishes above us.

Our centers are real problem. Neither Lundeström nor Holmberg looked good, and Lindholm, Rasmussen and Wingerli are not really top-6 centers. And the defense was as bad as advertised, Lööv, ufhh what a horrible game. At least Nils Lundqvist looks like a future NHLer.
Lundkvist was a mixed bag, weak play on one of the danish goals.

Overall this team lacks identity. Too many players that seem selected just because Garpenlöv values other leagues higher than SHL. We're short on centers, sure, but is Lundeström even a star at the SHL level? The one line that looked consistently good during pre-tournament play is broken up. Who fills Berggren's role as a playmaker who can find those passes that cut through defenses?
Defense is a total mess and there are probably 4-5 guys just from the SHL that I would prefer.

First of all, congrats to Denmark, good job, good team historic win

Second, Sweden now has to understand, that to make it to 1/4 they need to play very seriously and use some tactics, it is not 2017/18 we cant expect to win games in group on pure skill alone.
All teams are beatable, talk that Russia or Czechs are better than us is based on stereotypes and typical swedish self critics))

The Good:
Nils Lundqvist
Adrian Kempe
Carl Klingberg
Pär Lindholm
Oscar Lindberg

The Bad:
Rickard Rakell
Victor Olofsson
Pontus Holmberg

The Ugly:
Isac Lundström
Viktor Lööv

Dahm played this season in the ICEHL, teams from Austria, Slovakia, Italy, Hungary

Look, Dahm Jakobsen, Hardt, Poulsen, Bau, Jensen are all experienced guys who have played in good leagues, you cant just simply look at their current league and pretend its a bunch of no namers from danish league

Come on - not only are you being totally disrespectful towards Denmark (Give some credit, where credit is due).

But crying about missing calls, is just ugh.. The Swedes were also getting away with a few calls.
Yes, they did and the refs could've easily taken 1-2 more Swedish penalties there at the end. But at that part of the game when the defending team can interfere like that it's not easy to get players moving.

Add Tömmernes to the bad list, at the very least. Otherwise I agree. Rakell and Olofsson needs a good playmaking center and it shouldn't be difficult to find one. For Garpenlöv it's impossible it seems.

Why Lööv and Lundeström weren't benched for the third is baffling, they were useless.

Bwahaha!
This is one of those things this Dane never honestly thought I’d experience. OK - Denmark has occasionally beaten much better teams before, but then at least one could usually surmise that they just didn’t care. At least not enough.
But Sweden has to care about not losing to Denmark.

11 losses since Denmark joined the big boys, outscored something awful.

Juicy! Off to read Aftonbladet :D.

I think Garpenlöv expected to get a lot NHL reinforcements on D, I mean a lot these feels like the "place holder until NHLer arrive" kind of players. Lawrence Pilut, Magnus Nygren, Viktor Lööv, Jesper Sellgren, Jonathan Pudas are these really IHWC defenders? Garpenlöv probably panicked when he didn't get any NHLers and that's why he gave Tömmernes an invite. Tömmernes is not that great of a player that he should receive a garantueed place in the team without earning his plays in the games leading up to the tournament.

I didn't see the game but bad grades for Lundeström, Olofsson and Rakell doesn't surprise me. Three perimeter players on the same line will never work. Lundeström is not WC quality in the first place.

True, but still, they have faced much lower level competition this season what Swedes and the transition, the difference from that
to the Worlds, to international level, is huge. Sweden shouldve beaten this Denmark team,..relatively easily, first game or not.

We're short on centers, sure, but is Lundeström even a star at the SHL level?
I mean, Garpenlöv played two European level star centers in Oscar Lindberg and Pär Lindholm on the same line. On the 4th(!) line even. Its a joke. If that 4th line isn't playing 1st line minutes next game I'll be livid.

Dahm played this season in the ICEHL, teams from Austria, Slovakia, Italy, Hungary
I mean Klagenfurt is the best team in the league and they have always made an effort to have an A-grade goalie. Before Dahm, it was Haugen who moved there from the KHL/SHL.

Pure red'n'white Danish dynamite - booom there goes Sweden!
For the first time ever in Worldchampionships, remember.
Denmark are ...dejligt (lovely) even in hockey nowadays:nod:.

Led by Jokerit KHL-star Nicklas Jensen.

Every goal Denmark made in this game was a real (Madrid) beauty.

The only line in Sweden that even stepped up against the Danes for a dance in this game were their fourth-line. That really says it all ...

Well it seems like no danes has put a comment in here om this game (the debate among Danes in here are quite dead). So I’ll do it. The team is not as bad as you might think. Yes we do not bring the NHL stars eg. Ehlers, Bjorkstrand, Eller, Andersen and KHL’er Philip Larsen, but D-man wise we have never had a better team. All of the D are playing in either SEL or DEL. And a lot of the players playing in Denmark have experience from SEL, DEL, etc. (Hardt, Julian J, Jesper Jensen, Morten Poulsen, Bau)

Imagine Sweden and Czechs miss out on quarters
That would be a read sensation.

Bigger would be Canada, Sweden and Czechs out, but I will still expect all thee of then to be in the finals.
All of them seems to be playing better and better as such tournament progresses.

Yes, Danish hockey is slowly but surely getting some depth and that's really fun for the sport. The problem from Swedish eyes isn't that Denmark won, it's how they won. If Sweden would've lost despite carrying the game, fine, but this? A total fiasco, Denmark deserved to win and that's beyond unacceptable.

Denmark played a great game (some poor shooting, but still), but the Swedish team did basically nothing right - starting with the clown coach with bad coaching experience. Bad hockey fundamentals, awful puck support and ferosity in puck battles. Some players looked like they haven't played a game in years. The ice was bad, but the puck distribution and player movement was still awful. If Sweden plays like this against Great Britain, it'll be a close game.
