Sweden 6, Switzerland 2 FINAL

Well if I am to make a prediction, I have to take Sweden - Slovakia into account.

I think anything can happen. Sweden's poor performance against Slovakia is a big minus for the Swedish team, they can't feel 100% confident and stable right now. Switzerland has defeated both Canada and Czech so not giving them respect is idiotic.

Sweden is the better team and would be my strong favorite if there wasn't any other circumstances. Even if they did not intentionally plan to throw the match, the speculations, B-Ã…'s brainless blabbering, the uproar from the Swedish people and the huge criticism from the Swedish media must have been heard all the way down to Torino. The Swedish team will be the deciding factor of the outcome, not Switzerland. If we can get to see the real Forsberg, Sundin & co then Sweden will win.
 
Gerber let's in 3 goals on his first 4 shots, prompting the Swiss bench to pull him in favour of Aebischer. Aebischer proceeds to stop a ridiculous amount of shots, as DiPietro scores 4 goals to lead Switzerland to a 4-3 victory.
 
Revenge , revenge...

- In the last 1/4 in Vienna, Sweden won 2-1 vs Switzerland.

- Lundquist vs Gerber, the revenge of the elite final in Sweden.

- Martin Plüss's playing in Sweden. Keep a eye...

- Switzerland coach Krüger was the teacher from Sweden coach Gustafsson.

What a game we'll see... defensive, very defensive and a lot of tactics.

No forecast for me....

Will Forsberg play???

Last night I saw part of the Slovakia - Sweden game and it seemed to me that Team Sweden wanted to lose the game. If this is true, was it a professional thing to do? I won't comment on that but this tactical decision can come and bite back. I can see this as a potential Belarus 2 for Team Sweden. I don't think the Swiss won't mind, but don't count on it. Anyway, this will be a interestring game to watch.

Haha. People are extremily stupid. Thats all I have to say. Why would Sweden waste strength on a game that was completely useless.

Finland would have done the same. So would all top-nations have done. B-Ã… was just honest and told the truth, which caused this drama and was a little bit clumsy i admit.

Even if Sweden looses today it was the right thing to do.

I've noticed in my time in Denmark that Scandinavians are brutally honest at times and i'm with you, BÃ… was just being honest...The other teams would do exactly the same, just they would claim it was some 'freak loss heaven forbid' such as the Czechs and Canada losing to Switzerland...both teams were certainties anyways.

Sweden will destroy the Swiss, 7-1 today...they are too good, and have a shot at going all the way in this tournament

I agree wit all that man, I honestly wouldnt be shocked if the swiss won, their style of play can work on the big ice, they roll as a crew and just make little smart plays, and are fiesty. paul Dipeitro needs to come up clutch or swiss probly wont win, but I wouldnt be surprised either if Sweeden won, Forsberg is better player then the whole swiss combined team, but skill doesnt always win u games on paper, this match is basically a toss up IMO.
 
This will be Sweden's 10th elimination game in a best-on-best tournament. So far, the record is not encouraging. We have only one win, the very first game, the semifinal vs USA in the 1984 Canada Cup.
 
Sweden will win easily today. I think this will be the first game so far in which we are gonna see a 100% Swedish team. With Foppa doing his magic and Henke in goal this game can only end one way.

Yeah, Sweden lost against Belarus, but that kind of upset only happens every 20 years or so.

This GDT is about Sweden - Switzerland, not about Sweden - Slovakia. Off-topic posts have, and will be deleted, to avoid this GDT becoming a bash-fiesta, like the threads yesterday. The two best trapping and without a doubt slowest teams in the Quarter Finals, equiped with probably the best goalies to boot.

I say Sweden wins this one by 2-1.

Actually it's hypocrisy which is quite swedish if you know your metal. As far as the game is concerned I really doubt the swedes have much trouble with the swiss no matter how they came by this matchup. Probably the weakest matchup of the quarterfinals.

So now you want to emphasize the round robin games and in fact you've done nothing but downplay them telling the real games start now. That one H word comes to my mind but what does this have to do with sweden vs. switzerland? And yes this is probably the weakest matchup of the quarterfinals. After all there is only so much a hot goalie can do. I hope that the game will be somewhat entertaining but most likely rather lobsided. Or is this the best matchup in your opinion?

I really think this sucks, now the pressure is in our hands once again and Switzerland will trap them and be very effective in the offensive end on PP. I sure want Sweden to win, but man if they lose this they wont be able to return to Sweden in 10 years.

Well, I'm optimistic, Sweden wins 3-2.
