That NationWide commercial that started off with the kid recounting his childhood fantasies before escalating into "I can never do that...because I'm dead" was completely "WTF???!?!".

For all the flak Jerry Jones gets, he's 1,000x better than Robert Kraft. Who is actually insufferable to listen to. At least with Jerry, I feel like I could go out for beer and wings with him and watch a game.

That was without a doubt, the worst playcall in NFL history. Darrell Bevell should be fired.

Apparently the call came direct from Pete Carroll.

When he said "we are all patriots" I threw up a little.

I didn't watch a single minute of the Superbowl, but after hearing about the ending, I looked up the highlights.

I agree with the general consensus. Why in the world would you make a play like that? Even the coach's reasoning (They - the Patriots - were setup in a formation we didn't like, so we threw the ball to get them to change it up next play) was baffling.

Can't really fault Wilson on the throw itself. It was just a great play by Butler on a horrible call. Keep in mind that it was only second down, and they had a timeout. They could have run Lynch twice if they wanted to and maybe still run that play on 4th down.

I liked the Dodge commercial because the thought of a 100-year-old little old lady winding out the gears in a Challenger is equal parts hilarious and horrifying.

Everything was set up so perfectly for this game to be remembered by one of the most insane catches ever to set up the winning score. What a travesty. Remarkably dumb play call, but it's also unfortunate that Seattle doesn't have any good receivers (except for apparently some random special teamer who comes out of nowhere to go ham in the Super Bowl), because you've got to make a play on that ball if you are the receiver.

Anyone catch Carroll's explanation on the play call?

He was going to call 1 pass play, then run on 3rd, call timeout (at .01), then run on 4th.

That gives the Seahawks 3 shots at the endzone, and eats up the maximum amount of clock since they can call timeout with 1 second after 3rd down.

Contrasted with running the ball on 2nd down. If he doesn't get it, they have to call timeout. And then you have to pass the ball on 3rd, and can't control the clock and a sack probably ends the game. Then you run the ball on 4th, and leave time on the clock for Pats who only need a fg.

In the end, they were calling 2 runs and 1 pass. This was just the smart way to do it. (I certainly didn't think so at the time. But then he explained it, and I was "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."

Worrying about what happens if you fail is a good way to never have to encounter about that situation. If he wanted to call a pass, there were better, far less dangerous ones to call.
